After ds' (2) bath last night I told him to go to his bedroom to get dressed. He decided to run away from me though so I was chasing a naked two year old through the house. He wa

Gah... wrong button...

He was so funny with his skinny little legs and bum and he was laughing maniacally, he reminded me of the ginger bread man! I could barely chase him for laughing. Grin

Paddy that's brilliant I've a mental image Grin
I third it's a great thread after what has seemed like a lot of sorrow of late I am trying to take the time to seek out small joys.
Recently we looked back through old family holiday photos/videos and it took us right back and we all lay in bed belly laughing.
Essential oils either on me, in my bath or diffused through the house.
Lighting a candle.
Watching or listening to dcs play together.
Being organised, that one doesn't happen often but when it does I feel great 👍🏼

That first crisp autumn morning! Means dark nights, candles on and fluffy blankets snuggled on the sofa...bliss

As you may know, I live in the Cincinnati area. My family is currently obsessed (like most Cincinnatians) with Fiona - a baby hippo born 6 weeks premature in January. The zoo posts videos and updates on her every day. She was recently introduced to her parents, as she was too small to be with them, and she's doing quite well. She's just darling.

Fresh clean bed sheets

When you the clean the house top to bottom in the morning, and can just relax in the evening

When someone else makes dinner

Watching my toddler develop new skills
(He's learning to ride a scooter ATM)

Breezy summer nights

Head butts from our very shy cat and seeing all three cats getting along.
The smell of polish on the dining room table when I have just polished it.

Laying on the bed with a nice cup of tea listening to a good podcast and giving DD her bottle (Used to be the same situation but breastfeeding Sad). Love that special time together

My newborn's super-soft hair, his little facial expressions, his milky smell... I'm smitten!

Oh I love this thread so much. Thanks OP just what I needed today! Flowers

Definitely agree with the family gatherings at your parents house making you feel grounded. Visiting my folks in our hometown is so good for my soul.

Also the first crisp autumn morning squeeee! I love autumn, got so overexcited watching the Stranger Things trailer yesterday mentally planning my autumn/Hallowe'en!
The very first sweet sip from a bottle of water.
My DDs faces and soft skin, I can feel the love hearts popping out of my eyes like a cartoon character.
My DDs when they're all sleepy and cuddly in the mornings.
A line of washing
A beautiful notepad that I can write lists in Smile
Mindfully cleaning our family home; so 1950s but I love putting my energy into making a lovely tidy home for us.
People-watching from a cafe window with a hot coffee
A bloody great rain/thunder storm
I also have a bright yellow oversized raincoat with a good. It's so comfy and being slightly big on me makes me feel like a kid again. I love it!

I watched a documentary tonight about a little boy who had worked so, so hard, and was so smart, but couldn't afford to go to the school he wanted (Harrow). The documentary was the story of him going through the interview and testing process, and finding out he'd won.

This was a little boy who lived in a one bedroom downstairs flat with his parents. He didn't even have his own bedroom, he slept in the living room. He went from that, to being basically given 200k+ pounds to get one of the best educations money can buy.

I thought about the doors that are open to him now, that never could have been before. But mostly, I think about the look on his face when he got the phone call.

(Please no comments about the privilege inherent in the public boarding school system, I just want to focus in on the way he beamed all over his little face because all of his dreams had come true!)

1yo ds giving me kisses and laying his head on my shoulder last night when I caved and brought him into bed with me 😍

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 24/07/2017 09:05

Mornings when I wake before my 3-yo DD and manage to nip downstairs for a cup of coffee, open the back door, smell the plants and listen to the birds. Then DDs delighted little face and cry of "Mummeee!" when I go into her room.

Lovely thread

Loving my summer garden but looking forward to open fires when winter comes & Christmas. All of December is made fun.

Summer holidays with no school runs is really good for my soul. Been off 4 weeks now in NI & it's so good 😀
