Just sat in bed and felt a little tickle on my arm, went to grab it and it jumped like I've never seen something jump before! Caught it again and tried to squash it and it wouldn't die Shock just managed to grab it in a piece of tissue and it was defo a flea Confused
We have no pets and my house is clean and tidy. Wtf? Do I have to go round looking for where it came from or could it have just come in on my clothes?

It was definitely a flea, it had the two long legs and I could just tell by how it moved. Hopefully it was just the one. I've set soap and water traps with a light to see if it attracts any more. I'll get some of the spray tomorrow and wash all the bedding.

I use Indorex on sofas and mattresses but first thing in the morning and leave windows open all day.

CheshireChat · 23/07/2017 22:54

Indorex is amazing!

FWIW after mowing the lawn at our previous house, either me or DP brought fleas in and infested our poor indoor only cat.

So you don't actually need pets to get infested I'm afraid.

Make sure you spray well all the corners, nooks and crannies as fleas like them.

Soap and water traps??? Please explain???

CupcakesForBreakfast · 24/07/2017 08:05

Apparently if you put soap and water in a dish with a warm light (preferably green) over it the fleas jump in because they're attracted to the light? Read it online last night apparently it's a thing Hmm I'll try anything though. Sent dh to get indorex from the vets.

You can pick up fleas walking through fields and parks - no need to be near animals. That's also how a lot of domestic dogs and cats pick them up.

Had a flea infestation in my old flat last year. Put out a bowl overnight of laundry detergent and water with a light over it and by the morning there were quite a few caught in there. Other than that lots of hoovering and wash literally everything. Horrible little cretins they are Angry

CupcakesForBreakfast · 24/07/2017 08:28

Yeah, there were none in the water bowls and I've only seen the one so far. Can they burrow in mattresses? Do I need to burn them Wink

Hoover, bleach, flea spray...and repeat, over and over until they've gone. Little fuckers hide in the smallest of places. We had a particularly nasty infestation a few years ago, I cried when I opened my suitcase on holiday and one jumped out, the fucker had followed us to Majorca!

This is also very good, but I wouldn't bother if you've only seen one: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00HW1GBRG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1500882927&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=flea+catcher&dpPl=1&dpID=51GqkTmD0ZL&ref=plSrch&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Good luck!

CupcakesForBreakfast · 24/07/2017 10:08

Oh no fancy what a nightmare for you! I've only had one and I'm freaked out!
Okay so I've hoovered and stripped the beds. Going to spray with something once dh is home.
