HAYFEVER to ask how yours is?

PoohBearsHole · 23/07/2017 12:59

posting for traffic 🙂

How is your hayfever treating you at the moment? Is it worse than before?

I ask as i've had such bad reactions i've been blue lighted to hospital and have EpiPens littered around house/work/car etc. It has literally NEVER been like this 😔.

I've had chest x-rays, given preventer and reliever inhalers and gas blood tests to determine exact allergy (to be fair my Dr rocks with his efficiency in checking what it is 🙂). Haven't had the results yet so could well be something more sinister (god i hope not as it's happened v quickly so if it is can't imagine it's good but i'm putting that to one side!)

I just want to hear i'm not alone with the hayfever, until about two weeks ago i hadn't even suffered from itchy eyes of had any sneezing (usual from May-July).

BTW still no sneezing, feel congested, short of breath, chest pains, threat tightening, lightheaded and slightly nauseous and occasional facial rash. Eyes are sticky in the morning but otherwise usual symptoms have disappeared!

If you want to tell me how you haven't suffered this year - go ahead 😁 but if you know of anyone who has had severe reactions this year i'd appreciate hearing 🙂

Mines horrific too OP. Rubbed my eyes so much I tore the cornea. It's never been this bad before. Hope you get sorted!

user1497435493 · 23/07/2017 13:05

Worse than EVER this year.

Also DH and DD have it too AND her boyfriend. DH never had it before, and he is middle aged now.

I think it's the grass pollen. We are all on a hayfever tablet every day.

And if we forget, our eyes and noses are streaming like crazy.

PoohBearsHole · 23/07/2017 13:09

I am hoping this is all hayfever or it will be likely to be something more serious like COPD/BRONCHITIS or who knows!

I know of two other people locally who have had really bad reactions - facial swelling to the point of slits for eyes - you know like you see in magazines after hair dying goes wrong? However it's so debilitating at the moment i'm actually quite depressed/ want to cry constantly 🙁

Yeah mine has been really bad this year. Lots of nosebleeds and feeling generally rough. The season is pretty much over for me now though.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 23/07/2017 13:19

Oh its yoyo snot and itching over here. I canr remember it being do bad for do many days in s row for many many years
My 6 year old is using his inhaler to help this year too.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 23/07/2017 14:00

I have the type that's worse earlier in the year, so mine has been gradually getting better in the last few weeks.

This year was certainly the worst ever for watery eyes. I've been getting through several tissues a day just mopping at 'em, and bought eye drops to help with it.

PoohBearsHole · 23/07/2017 15:28

it's so irritating and frustrating, feel bad got the small ones getting it!

Fluffyears · 23/07/2017 16:37

Ben awful this year (mind you have moved to a more rural location) DP refuses to accept he has it 🙄 And so won't take any medication.

Allthewaves · 23/07/2017 16:44

horrendous. Iv got unrticaria so on antihistamine, montelukast - not even touching it. Iv had to add in another antihistamine and constant eye drops. Stop using normal non bio washing powder and wear sunglasses constantly as my eyes just ache

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 23/07/2017 16:53

Mine's been horrid - constantly exhausted, banging headaches, swollen eyes itching so much I've been driven to tears, unable to sleep with sinus pain and a streaming nose so endless I had to block one nostril with a foam earplug.

My surgery won't prescribe hayfever meds, but none of the OTC ones were working for me. Luckily there's a very kind ANP there who prescribed me a course of fexofenadine after she saw how rough I've been with it, so I'm much better now!

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 23/07/2017 17:13

Mines been worse this year - thankfully no where near as bad as yours OP.

The past few weeks I've been sleeping constantly from 5am-8am so I must be getting done over by some early bird pollen.

IDoDaChaCha · 23/07/2017 17:16

Worse this year than I can remember. 17mo DD seems to be starting with it already: rubbing eyes & nose, sneezing & getting annoyed Sad

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 23/07/2017 17:21

Much worse this year. Not like yours OP, but eyes, nose, throat

Stansmith01 · 23/07/2017 17:50

Also worse this year. I used to only get mild hayfever, but it's been really bad especially at night. My eyes are almost always red, irritated, and streaming. Head aches, sinus pain. Can't breathe through my nose at night either - so annoying! Keeps me up

Eye drops and antihistamines haven't been much help

Also, I don't know if this is related but my eczema has flared up too Sad

PoohBearsHole · 23/07/2017 18:35

I was so hoping someone else was going to tell me they'd been suffering the same as me because I keep thinking a it's all kinds of life threatening illnesses! I'm SURE it's hayfever but.....niggles 🙂

agentdaisy · 23/07/2017 19:47

Mine's been godawful this year. I haven't been able to breathe through my nose since early March, my eyes have been constantly streaming so bad I constantly look like I've been crying and I haven't had so many migraines for years.

The really hot weather when the pollen count shot up triggered a horrible dry cough that took weeks to go.

We went camping a couple of weeks ago which I'm usually fine with of I double my antihistamines but this time I was itchy the whole time. I also had tingling in my face especially my lips which scared the life out of me, my breathing was okay or I'd have been straight to the hospital, I don't know if it was hayfever or too much sun that caused it but it was horrible.

ForalltheSaints · 23/07/2017 19:52

I thank the Lord that I am not a hayfever sufferer.

burntoutmum · 23/07/2017 20:06

This has been an awful year for me, feels like it's starting to ease off a bit at the moment. Will no doubt be back with a vengeance in September Angry

ColdAsIceCubes · 23/07/2017 20:11

This year has been awful! Me and 2 of my ds suffer and no amount of medication has helped. One of my hayfever suffering ds has asd, so has been an added bonus 😏, unfortunately he is also the one who suffers most so several trips to the. GP for prendisilone to help with the swelling of his face, as well as antihistamines. Roll on winter!

footballmum · 23/07/2017 20:14

Is there a particular type of pollen that's very high at the moment? I don't normally suffer but am scratching my eyes out of my head! But my DH and DS1 are normally quite bad and seem fine with it. I can't understand it!!

PoohBearsHole · 23/07/2017 20:22

I think it's grass pollen 😢

MorbidBibliomancy · 23/07/2017 20:30

Haven't rftf but if your eyes are bothering you, optrex do a spray that does wonders for itchy eyes. It'll make your face smell a bit like a chip shop, but it's so worth it. It's the 2 in 1 eye spray and it's been a life saver for me.

PenelopePimpleBottom · 23/07/2017 20:31

My ds has been terrible this year. He missed a week of school because every time he left the house his face was swelling up within a few minutes and his arms and legs were covered in hives. He could hardly catch a breath either. His eczema had been very bad too with constant reinfections. He's only 10, bless him. The gp gave him new meds for everything which seem to be doing the trick. He was very short of breath again on Friday though so planning another trip back to the doctors to see if he needs an inhaler to help him.

AlternativeTentacle · 23/07/2017 20:46

It is not just the pollen, for me here in the country it is the harvests. I literally flee for my life if I am out for a walk and see a harvester. The dust from them can have me on my knees in seconds.

AlternativeTentacle · 23/07/2017 20:46

And yes the hay fever this year has been horrendous.
