My kids love this song but if you're a Spanish speaker you'll know it's quite rude...

I like the original version. It's catchy and good to dance to and actually sounds like music. So much of the current stuff all sounds the same and is like fingernails on a blackboard.

Bit sleazy but catchy tune
DD brought home the lyrics in Spanish from school ( Spanish class) but was adviced NOT to translate them - so of course they all did!!

What does the word despacito mean?

Thanks for the translation! No worse than a lot of other pop songs out there.

msrisotto · 23/07/2017 10:48

Despacito = slowly

All pop songs are pretty sexually explicit. Don't see the big deal.

Hoppinggreen · 23/07/2017 11:22

I means slightly way but also softly/gently at the same time
Someone described it to me as how you would leave a room with a sleeping baby in it!!

PoppyPopcorn · 23/07/2017 13:20

Despacio means slowly. Adding the "Ito" at the end makes things smaller. The way you'd leave a sleeping baby's room is the perfect example! We don't have the "Ito" construction format in English so there's no exact translation.
