AIBU to ice a cake with cream cheese frosting and leave it out overnight?

Am baking this cake: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cookies-cream-party-cake

I don't want to refrigerate it because it can change the cake texture, but I'd rather ice it tonight.

Can I leave it on the kitchen counter overnight in the UK without it going bad?

If you have a cold room like a utility room then I've done it before but I wouldn't in this warm weather. I know what you mean about putting cake in the fridge - I hate the taste and can always tell if they've been fridged when I'm in a coffee shop.

I would definitely put it in the fridge if it has cream cheese in it. Otherwise the frosting will get that slightly stale taste - not coming lately off, but just not fresh!!!

I thought things could only get darked on outside?! Shock
Surely inside dark is not at all harmful to cakes, drying bedsheets, or me?!

God what a bunch of fusspots Grin

Leave it out but covered. Unless you are in a v v hot country it'll be absolutely fine.

I would put it in the fridge, but if you want to leave anything out of the fridge overnight then I always shut it in the microwave - cat and dog proof.
