*lighthearted* tinkly little laugh

I actually heard one yesterday.
Our dog (7 month old Sprocker) is very very bouncy and energetic. Whilst out walking, we let the dog off the lead, as always (good recall), and suddenly, over the hill came a young-ish couple and a very old labrador. Our dog bounded over to them and started jumping about, and then I heard it - the tinkly little laugh - "Oh, he's lively isn't he?"
Which instantly I knew meant -"get him OFF!"
We called our dog immediately and he came.
AIBU to think that this was a true interpretation of the TLL??

donald - I have learned on MN that you never get the response you were expecting.
The Labrador was not on a lead. He ran over the top of the hill as we were walking. His owners were about as far away from their dog as we were from ours. We were out on the countryside in an area often used by dog walkers to let their dogs run free.
We are training our dog NOT to jump up at people, and to socialize with other dogs. The Labrador did exactly the right thing by standing still and giving our dog a good example.
Our dog came immediately when I called him.
It was just that the other owner's laugh sounded so fake.

And what's the problem with calling him a Sprocker - he's half Springer, half Cocker spaniel. It's not Kennel Club, but who cares?

How were you doing that today from so far away?

I'm really not understanding why you have such a problem with what her laugh meant. If it meant "get your dog off" why is that a problem? It's exactly what you should have done. Would you rather she said "get your dog off me?"

supersop60 · 22/07/2017 22:14

I guess you had to be there........

Well as I wasn't there, can you explain what the problem with the meaning of her laugh was?

Squirmy65ghyg · 22/07/2017 22:18

Thanks Fanjo Smile

Why is everyone so appalled at an excitable puppy prancing around another dog? I'm not a dog owner but I love seeing dogs in the park interact playfully. So there.

Anyone who allows their dog to run up to me is my enemy.

do you always let your dog jump on people? I would have shouted at you..

Huffletuff · 22/07/2017 22:24

Of course he's not Kennel Club, he's a mongrel. People who call their crossbreeds ridiculous names like Sprocker, Jug, Kangorillapig etc are just adding to the people purposely breeding them and charging ridiculous amounts for puppies with non-health-tested parents. Hopefully you rescued yours.

I don't think what you heard was a tinkly little laugh.

MeanAger · 22/07/2017 22:30

Maybe it was a sneeze...

Agree sprocker is just a wanky name for a mongrel Grin

supersop60 · 22/07/2017 23:02

fanjo - I am very very ashamed for everything, ever. I have tasted the MN medicine, and oh, it is bitter.
