How can the victim in this not have known for two years that she was having sex with a woman not a man - I don't understand it, I mean they say she was blindfolded but she can't have not known unless she was involved in some very dodgy stuff?

Remember the Maury show? Kind of the USA version of Jeremly Kyle. There were always women on there who said this. It's bizarre! How can you not see your Partner naked, in 2 years? How could you not tell a strap on, from the real thing? I don't get it either. It's bonkers.

Very trusting to wear a blindfold on first meeting if not naive. YANBU

There was an article about this in last Saturdays guardian magazine which explained everything. I'm at work, but maybe someone else could link to it? It's very sad all round. They both seem very vulnerable.

dowhatyouwish · 20/07/2017 15:40

I believe she also told the victim not to touch her because she has some kind of heart problem. It sickens me.

RelaxMax · 20/07/2017 15:44

Gayle Nichols had told the victim that "he" had to wear a special constriction suit because of a heart problem, and that he was self conscious about scarring on his face so she couldn't hug him or look at him.

She must have been pretty naive tbh, but obviously it never occurred to her that "Kye" was lying.

DownUdderer · 22/07/2017 14:08

Was the victim (for want of a better word) a virgin? Perhaps she literally did not know what it should feel like?

user1498911589 · 22/07/2017 20:26

Presumably that's the case, but the whole thing of always being blindfolded when she saw 'him' ? It doesn't sound at all plausible.

Well it's been tried twice, and both juries decided they believe the victim. As they're the ones who heard all the evidence I'm going to assume it seemed true beyond all reasonable doubt to them,

OlennasWimple · 22/07/2017 20:40

What Relax said. And yes, DownUdderer, victim is exactly the right word to use here Angry

DonaldStott · 22/07/2017 20:43

It is a very sad story. The victim was very vulnerable and was basically groomed over a long period of time.

She had been in a very abusive relationship previously so was very susceptible to being groomed by the words from someone, she believed, was being kind to her.
