How do you know it's supposed to be a breastfeeding emoji?

I didn't even realise there was a new breastfeeding emoji until now but now I do I actually quite like it. It definitely looks like how a woman would breastfeed her baby to me - she's been discrete and keeping it covered.

I love an emoji as much as the next person, but seriously, it’s an emoji! They are not known for realistic portrayals!

Actually I've just looked at it again and are we even sure it's supposed to be a breastfeeding emoji and not just someone cuddling her baby?

I don't think OP's problem with it is it not being realistic, but that it's not clear what it's meant to be. The rainbow isn't realistic but you know it's a rainbow. The breastfeeding one just looks like a woman holding a baby.

OK I think I get you now OP. You don't like it because it's not clear it's a breastfeeding emoji. Is that right?

Meh. It's very existence is a pain in the bum and lead to various status updates with people virtue-signalling that they breastfeed and are, ergo, better than you.

(Look, I breastfed two kids to age 2, I just didn't talk about it or post pics online or make status updates about feeling #blessed with my #sucklebuddies or whatever. Breastfeeding was something I did to feed the kids and avoid washing up, I didn't use it to give myself a personality, like sooooome people do. And yes, I support a woman's right to breastfeed everywhere. This isn't about that. This is about that one person who annoys everyone by talking about nothing but breastfeeding and cloth diapering FOR EVER and then changes their FB job to "milk maker" or something, and posts nothing but breastfeeding memes, and it's not about the acts, it's about them being annoying.)

I don't recognise all the food, but that's because I don't know all the specific dishes that have an emoji, whereas I've breastfed for over a year and don't think I'd have recognised that emoji as representing breastfeeding.
