Had a friend stay last week overnight who lives in a different part of the country whereas I live a major city. As a parting remark, I said if you ever need somewhere stay in (big city) our door is always open. Didn't think too much about it. Received a text today asking if she could crash tomorrow for a couple of days for some interviews. Normally wouldn't mind but it's our wedding anniversary & we have a romantic night in planned. Replied 'we'd love to see you but have xyz planned for wedding anniversary'. Thought that would be the end of that. Reply 'oh no worries, I'll just pitch up late and have lots of prep to do so you won't even notice I'm there'.
Slightly aghast. Although, I did offer.

DH was fuming when I told him. Luckily, as I don't have big girl pants and hate being in situations like this, my mate has decided to doss down on another friends sofa instead. Phew. Crisis averted. Must learn to be less British and more forthright about these things.

Still haven't got DH an anniversary present though, so any ideas for last minute presents...?

What's he into? Anything he likes doing?

Tingotango · 18/07/2017 13:38

Haha OP you're funny. Next time like you say just don't offer! Does he drink? Maybe something boozy. Or a visit to lovehoney website!!

Theonethingididntwant · 18/07/2017 13:42

Yanbu "we'd love to have you" doesn't mean any and every time you want to.
She probably needed a place to stay but most normal people take no as an answer the first time. It's it special day with your DH, there's no way I'd want to intrude on that and be prepping for interviews worrying if I'm intruding on sexy time!
