AIBU to call in sick for this?

I don't know what to do so hoping someone has some advice.

My periods have always been regular as clockwork, moderately painful and last 5-6 days. However, my last period which finished a week ago, was 11 days long, much heavier and more painful than normal. I felt very weak and exhausted by the end.

Last night I started bleeding again. It's very heavy and I'm passing a lot of clots. I feel nauseous and have cramps but I don't think it can be my period because of the timing. WIBU to call in sick to work and try to get a doctor's appointment as I'm anxious something could be really wrong with me?

Also if I do call in, how much detail do I have to give? My boss is a man in his 60's and very 'old school'.

Have you got your appointment yet OP?

I suspect GP will tell you to go to A&E - that's what they did when I called them about heavy and painful bleeding. In my case it was a miscarriage (and I knew that) but I think it'll be the same; the GP hasn't got any equipment to scan you or anything so I'm not sure how much they can do for you.

This happened to me about nine years go before I had children.
They couldn't be sure but said it was almost certainly a miscarriage. I had left it a while to get examined etc as I had very heavy periods but this was in a league of its own.

Don't worry about your boss and certainly don't wait for a GP appointment I would go to a and e or ring the number for advice sorry my keyboard has frozen and I can't type numbers

I hope you are ok, this sort of thing is very frightening

I can't get through to GP surgery on the phone so I'm going to go to the walk in centre. Thank you all for your help.

As it's leaving you unable to work then no, by definition you would not BU to call in sick. you are sick.

BikeRunSki · 17/07/2017 12:05
