Probably not the right place to post this but I really need advice on driving to North of Scotland in winter
What is SAFEST route to Elgin area .... A9 via Cairngorms or A90 north of Aberdeen....and are either of these roads often closed due to snow etc ?
Thanks :-)

And actually I don't have a shovel either, so I'm not following my own advice, but that's what they tell you to do!

This is something you should plan the day before you travel check forecast and live webcams on the route. I live 10 miles from Elgin and travel the route regularly. The A9 is my preffered route as its quicker - stop for a pee in Perth before you head north as there is nothing facility wise for 100 miles. The A90 is not fun and the A96 Aberdeen to Elgin is worse than the A9 for poor driving.
