To ask for birthday gift ideas for my husband...

Not got a clue this year. Budget up to £200. He is a keen mountain biker but has everything obvious. He liked indie type music but not big stadium concerts. Please help....

No helpful ideas except do look at local gig listings

(snort at 'has everything obvious' - bet he's lusting after new forks or a rear mech - there's always something. Or a trip to Afan Argoed.)

LG93 · 13/07/2017 13:04

Can you not just ask him? Ruins the surprise somewhat but hubby always gives me a list - I will pick from said list and try and find a little novelty/token surprise gift for about a tenner. Nothing worse than wasting---- spending £200 on something he doesn't really want!

BunloafAndCrumpets · 13/07/2017 13:04

Hmm. How about some sort of fancy speaker for his music? Like a bose Bluetooth one, or one of those amazon Alexa things?

Acornantics · 13/07/2017 13:18

Does he have any vinyl lurking in the loft? If so, a turntable might be an idea, under £200 for a Denon or similar, can plug in USB to record music etc.

sarebear1983 · 13/07/2017 16:20

Yeah, I was going to say a usb turntable or a portable USB speaker and/or Spotify subscription.

Coulddowithanap · 13/07/2017 16:48

How about smoothie maker/nutribullet type thing?

Velodrome cycling experience?

A camera to record his bike rides like a dash cam?

Acornantics · 13/07/2017 16:49

Go Pro for his cycling antics? Can mount to his bike or helmet for all those fun downhill mild peril moments. ...

WingsofNylon · 13/07/2017 16:54

I was going to suggest a gopro too.

A few years ago I took my husband coasteering and he still raves about it.

nornironrock · 13/07/2017 17:04

I'm a bloke who cycles a lot (not as much as I'd like though) and always feel a little guilty spending family money on my hobby. (No-one else makes an issue of it, ever, but even so....) For my birthday, I'd be over the moon at a couple of hundred quids worth of Evans vouchers....

Or a Go Pro

As a fan of HiFI, and a collector of records, I'd say no to one of those ultra cheap turntables. They're a great way to ruin records...

Coulddowithanap · 13/07/2017 17:14

Ah Go Pro, that's the name of them cameras, my mind went blank trying to remember what they were called!

ArthurShelbysTash · 13/07/2017 17:22

A Leatherman multi tool. My DH loves his more than he loves me. He loves an opportunity to whip it out.

RandomlyGenerated · 13/07/2017 17:47

Does he like having stuff or doing things?

If the latter then:

Flying lesson
Aerobatic flight
Super car / race car driving
Bushcraft weekend

Angela0413 · 13/07/2017 18:54

Just bought my other half who is a runner a smart watch thing which was £200, tracks heartbeat, has GPS etc. Something he would never buy for himself as not a necessity but reckon (hope!) he'll like it

Aquamarine1029 · 13/07/2017 18:57

Does he have a couple of close friends? How about a boy's night out?

6demandingchildren · 13/07/2017 19:10

Get him a weekend at Cannock, loads of places to stay and it's excellent for mountain biking. It's 250 miles away from us but we all love it there. As we relax and dh and son go off on their bikes, win win
