To pre cook BBQ food

Having lots of people for a BBQ on sat. Can I cook all the sausages etc in the oven/fry on Friday and then bung on the BBQ to heat on sat? Or will that taste rubbish? Any other ideas of how to feed all quickly?

Don't worry about trying to feed everyone at once. At a BBQ, people just eat when it's ready

Also, I would do one lot of food, serve it, then move on to cook another type of food, rather than trying to cook everything at once, which may end up in you getting frazzled about what's ready now and what needs longer to cook

I would cook chicken in the oven & finish it on the BBQ, to avoid salmonella, but everything else can be cooked on BBQ

Also, people tend to eat lots of potato salad, not so much coleslaw

Why do you need to feed everyone quickly?
BBQs should be long drawn out affairs with lots of leisurely eating throughout the afternoon and/or evening Blush

Another sausage boiler here never tried chicken though as I would do the chicken drumsticks in the oven and the rest on BBQ.

Boiled sausage anyone?

No

I hope you mean sous vide

GinIsIn · 13/07/2017 09:53

InDubious if you mean sous vide the clue is that it's in a bag, not just randomly boiled!

Thanks so much for all the helped tips.

I think I will do what dubious said. Pre cook chicken and sausages in oven then finish on BBQ. Lamb and burgers straight on BBQ. Ribs in oven. Most are bought marinated already. I got lamb plain. I may just oven cook the chipolatas and serve to the kids first with pizza.
