Bloody school flightpaths

My dd school (secondary) now uses flightpaths instead of the old 4b + 2 sub levels per year.

We are now in such a pc age that it's not about where you rank in your year / class / subject but whether or not you are on a secure flight path to get to the correct GCSE result

I don't have a problem, with flight paths, but i wish the school would actually state the flight that she is on.

Example
Report says English on flight path,. Secure but the school fails to tell the parents if the flightpath is leading to a GCSE grade f ( or 3 as it's now numbers) or a GCSE A*. (9)

How hard is it for a school to tell me what they think my dd gcse grades are going to be without me having to write to them

Because it's all about progress and not comparing children with other children.... Apparently

eyebrows would you prefer the illusion of being told something useful, but actually it's made up, rather than something more honest?

Interesting comments about how schools differ.

What makes it worse is that we have also been given a booklet with all the flight paths and how they eventually lead to the seperate grades if followed. Each flight path is a different colour. But the school only says, on flight path, exceeding or below, they don't even say on flight path green.

My whole argument is that my dd could be studying English with the school telling me that she's achieving her flight path, but she could be bottom of the year.

If I know where she is on attainment I can help get better grades, but it seems that the school is against giving this info out. Unless I write to them.

I have rarely discovered anything useful at Parents Evenings and report time. (Secondary)

The only info I have for child 1 is what set they are in. He has been fiercely resistant to my attempts at asking him about school until 3 months before his GCSEs. He hides all tests and is never kept in for not doing homework or not studying for tests. When I've asked about his seeming lack of effort at Parents Evenings I get that he's doing "fine" which I know from experience is code for he doesn't cause me any hassle.

I welcome data, facts and targets but there's no teacher's comment on his report and he won't discuss academics so I cling to this data despite knowing it's weak.
