Today I requested to go part time. Though my request has been sent to the academy trust my head teacher said it is extremely unlikely that my hours will be changed.

So I need to start planning. In Setember I will be working full time as a primary school class teacher. I will also be the sole carer for baby DD. Then all the usual stuff like cooking, cleaning, paying the bills (This is normally split between me and DH so I am taking on his chores as well). I would also possibly like to get out and about occasionally.
Any tips and advice for getting organised so that I can juggle everything and keep my head above water? Am I being reasonable for being so terrified about this prospect? At the moment I feel like I'm waiting for a tidal wave to hit Sad

Planning ahead is crucial. Batch cooking. Get things ready the night before if you can. It is hard but you will soon find a routine. Don't be too hard on yourself with things like cleaning it can wait! Good luck!

Direct debit for the bills.

Yes to batch cooking, freeze any leftover (empty ice cream tubes or take away boxes are good for that), find ready made meals that you like (pizza, quiche, raviolis, etc...).

Baby wipes are good for cleaning when you are in a hurry. Handheld vacuum cleaner for a quick vacuuming.

YANBU, good luck :)

TOP PRIORITIES
Proper good quality care for baby
online shop and meal plan accordingly
Get family or friends to give you some babysitting now and again
Cleaner X1 fortnight if funds will allow
Outfits for work planned night before and have a rotating wardrobe of outfits that work- no faffing in the AM
Lunches packed
Babybag packed night before
I put everything in the boot of my car the night before too!

plan your week out so,you do a little bit of housework, school, work etc each day, or on alternate days. Eg mon and wed evenings - school stuff, Tuesday and Thursday - home stuff.

Do internet shopping. You can then do,your shopping anytime and have it delivered at your convenience.

I think they have to consider your request seriously by law. Can you get union involved? My personal feeling is that a proper work life balance is so important for enjoying rather than enduring parenting a young child that I would really fight for my rights in this respect.

I work in HR for a company who is well known for flexibility... and I was told not a chance of part time...
They even make me take a longer lunch break unpaid so I can work 9 to 5
So part tune is not a given by any means
Online shopping is a godsend. Plan ahead and accept you won't have a clean house
But time with my kids is precious so I now prioritise weekend trips and time spent

Could you get someone (perhaps a local childcare student) as a mother's help for a few hours each week? They would be in the house with you, so if your baby needs something, you can sort it out, but it'll give you a chance to do cooking, marking, organising etc... And they may be useful as a babysitter later.

What role will your DH play? Is he a STBX - and will he have access etc.? Not sure from your OP, so sorry for the questions.
