To purchase a 'trendy' cycling jersey

First ever post. Please be gentle.
This year, I began cycling. I love it. I have some black, padded cycling shorts and a pink jersey... very tame but they serve their purpose.

I have seen some jerseys with wild designs on them - think skulls, roses and barbed wire type designs. I covet one of these jerseys.

However, I am 50. My dd24 says I am too old for such things...

To give you more information, I am slim (size 10), i ride my horse every day as well as cycle and go to the gym. I am fit and I have been told I can pass for late 30s.

AIBU to want such an item? Is my dd correct in saying I'm too old?

Buy what you like OP!
OH recently bought one from flareclothingco.com/ and worried it was a bit too young for him at 36 but who cares anyway? You're going so fast nobody sees it anyway Grin

Link or diagram please and what bike do you have - love a bit of bike porn

Helspopje · 10/07/2017 17:03

Get one from cytology. The biker style ones there sound right up your alley

I'm in my 50s and have a cycology cycle jersey. I love it. It's a nice tight fit and really flattering. I also like the fact that there's a side pocket with a zip for my key as well as the usual pockets.

EnidButton · 10/07/2017 17:41

I'm Shock that a 24 year old thinks 50 is too old for anything! She's being a dick. Even if you were 80 you could buy one. I know a woman in her 70's who runs marathons and none of her running gear is plain or boring.

HellonHeels · 10/07/2017 17:41

I bloody love those cycle jerseys and I'd buy myself one if I could get one to fit over my ridiculous tittage. I am 50.

DO IT!!!!

Also agree with the PP who suggested a vintage team jersey - ultimate in cycle cool. Get a vintage team cycle cap too. Wear with brim up.

Glittertwins · 10/07/2017 19:02

I say get it. It's your choice and it will also be well designed for wicking sweat away in this weather. DH has a storm trooper cycling top "because he can" Wink

nornironrock · 10/07/2017 19:23

Tell her to get stuffed.... My kids laugh at me because I'm overweight (above the waist) and wear tight jerseys. But they are 10 and 8.

Nettletheelf · 10/07/2017 19:32

Only if you wear it with a Triumph 'Doreen' bra, OP.

uk.triumph.com/non-wired-bra/doreen/10166213.html?cgid=200000&color=0026_Skin

That will keep you looking age appropriate, eh?

MikeUniformMike · 10/07/2017 19:37

Nettle, it looks OK on the model but ...

Cycling jersey needs a sports bra.

NotMyCircusNotMyProblem · 10/07/2017 19:47

Yes, it's the Cycology jerseys - I think they're fabulous, takes me back to my goth days Wink Anyway, have just ordered one - to hell with dd and yes, I think I will wear it when I go to visit her!

And, I'm not sure I should be admitting to this but, I do have a Triumph Doreen Blush I wouldn't wear it while cycling but, it's very comfortable to horse ride in. Good wide straps that stay up, holds everything in place, no bounce and it gives a more flattering shape than a sports bra Wink

Do look at the size guide though. It's accurate but I'm a large and am fairly slim

PitilessYank · 10/07/2017 22:05

Good for you!

I am 50, and I wear things adorned with skulls/glitter/spookiness often.

JaneJeffer · 11/07/2017 12:45

I found a picture of me in my skull top.
