AIBU to think my work are taking the piss?

Without giving too much detail, my work involves visiting different sites, different places have different manning levels, ie a bigger site might have 3 people all day, a smaller site would just be one.

The job I have today is usually 2 people. On my work calander when I got it last week didnt state who was meant to he here with me, which I raised with my boss.

Heard from him today and it appears that I am here myself, and if I want overtime, I can do the full job myself.

To work overtime, I expect to be asked first. If I had been asked in advance, yes I would probably be ok doimg this job myself, but I'm very pissed off that no one bothered.

The main issue is that my work planner (separate to my boss) doesnt like me. No idea why, she actually is based in a different country and has never met me. I'm good at my job and never cause any issues in that respect.

WIBU to refuse to do the overtime, only doing the part of the job I am here to do? I resent just doing it and making my work planners life easier. She should have to sort out the mess she has caused by not giving me a quick phone call.

Also what pisses me off is that its me on site having to deal with the client who are rightly annoyed that only half of the job can get done. And its me that looks unprofessional.

Do the whole job and email boss situation and explain need/desire for notice in future. Copy in Scheduler.

client doesn't lose out which is what is really important
scheduler knows you are onto her and are reporting it
Boss realises how pissed you are but also that you did the job this time but in future...

I would go three strikes and you are out and raise a grievance at that point - warning you are going to do so at the second event and then following through

Do you need the money? If you do then do the whole job and get paid overtime.

If you don't, do your half and leave and when she contacts you just say well if you would have let me known no one else was going to be here etc etc

MsMarvel · 10/07/2017 09:21

I dont need the money, no. Ive had issues in the past with her scheduling me to work bank holidays (another thing she needs to ask about first) without asking me.

Previously ive saod I'm not happy, but worked it, as didn't have specific plans. Now I'm just getting fed up.

Unless you actually need the money and welcome the overtime opportunity, just do the amount you can do as one person and contact the scheduling department to ask them to book in another person-day of work as soon as possible to finish the job. You didn't cock up and should not bear the consequences. If you knuckle down and do double work today you are confirming that this is OK and it will happen regularly.

MsMarvel · 10/07/2017 10:09

Yeah I'm worried that its already become an issue that this is happening more and more regularly.

Site are actually very nice about it, I just explained that I only get the info of where I'm going, and that there must have been some mix up in work planning. So I'm doing my half of the job and leaving it at that.

My boss has confirmed that this is fine to do, but I get the feeling he wants me just to do the extra work to make everyones life easier.
