Aibu to quickly ask what shape this dress comes under?

I got this dress at primark 2 years ago it was in the sale for £4 and it's the best thing ever! It's a scuba material, zip up the back, not too short and doesn't fit and flare too much. Anyway I have a wedding soon and am wanting a one a very similar shape ( I've wore the pictured one far too many times now )
Am I right in thinking I should be searching for an a-line ?? It doesn't have a seam on the waist which makes it flow so nice

I may be wrong but it looks like a skater dress

OuchLegoHurts · 08/07/2017 21:51

Skater style dress

kaytee87 · 08/07/2017 21:52

Yep skater dress

sonjadog · 08/07/2017 21:52

I reckon it's a skater dress too.

Gingernaut · 08/07/2017 21:52

Yep. Skater dress.

Foolytoo · 08/07/2017 21:54

Thanks guys, I did think... they all seem to have a waist band or seam which makes them very in and then out... rubbish for my massive arse and hips. Must have just been lucky to get one with no seam, will keep hunting. Thanks again

*similar

tissuesosoft · 08/07/2017 21:57

OP, have you looked at Lindy Bop?

7to25 · 08/07/2017 21:58

Hi op
This is not a skater dress because as you rightly point out, it has no seam at the waist.
It is A line with princess seaming. That is, the shape is given by seams running the length of the dress.

tissuesosoft · 08/07/2017 21:59

Oops pressed enter too soon (sorry everyone for multiple messages!)
I typed in 'scuba skater dress' into google then clicked on the shopping tab, lots of lovey options!

lidoshuffle · 08/07/2017 22:03

I'd have said a princess line dress, but the pattern makes the seaming difficult to see.

RiversrunWoodville · 08/07/2017 22:05

Utterly useless with anything clothes related but

Foolytoo · 08/07/2017 22:05

Love lindybop I had a wedding in may and got a dress from there, looking back on the photos it was just too flared and unflattering imo
7to25 Yes thats right! The way the seams run from top to bottom instead of left to right make it sit lovely! It kicks out a tiny bit to give shape but doesn't flare

Princess line:

Foolytoo · 08/07/2017 22:08

It is hard to see in the pic but the seam runs right down the middle and down the side of the boob bit.

Dress was honestly best £4 I have spent over worn it to death !

Try getting it copied. A dress maker could do it reasonably easily- princess line isn't hard. You could get several done at the same time, with different neck lines, sleeves, lengths if you wanted.

LellyMcKelly · 08/07/2017 22:21

I wish they did more dresses in this shape. I have massive boobs so a seam at the waist is sitting at underboob level, but the few Princess line dresses I've managed to find have been so flattering - big boobs - tiny waist - good hips. Very Marilyn Monroe!

BumWad · 08/07/2017 22:23

Can you go to a good tailor and have another one made?

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/07/2017 22:43

It is definitely princess line as per the green dress with blue trim.

Mammatron · 08/07/2017 22:51

Op I used to have that dress but in black with pink flowers. It was so flattering but alas it didn't live up to much washing, I miss it so much Sad

tinkiiev · 08/07/2017 22:58

Ooh, I think it's similar to an amazing dress I got at Uniqlo recently. V flattering and currently vvv cheap in the sale

Gingernaut · 09/07/2017 01:47
