To find videos of babies covered in food disgusting?

My sister keeps sending us videos of her 9mo DS covered in food. One today nearly made me retch. Lumpy brown food mixed with saliva and snot that he was spitting and rubbing all over himself. She demands a standard 'cootchie coo' response. I can't stand looking at these. Is this abnormal?

I don't find them cute.

SpiritedLondon · 08/07/2017 21:22

I don't know exactly what you're asking with this question. Is it abnormal to send videos of pictures of babies head to toe in food ( no) or is it abnormal to find it repulsive ( yes probably)

Redglitter · 08/07/2017 21:24

I've never seen the appeal of pics of babies covered in spaghetti sauce etc and don't get me started on cake smash photos

InMemoryOfSleep · 08/07/2017 21:24

Not abnormal to find them gross - I can just about stand it when my own DS is covered in food, but other people's kids?! Boak 🤢

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 08/07/2017 21:26

I'd just reply "gross" and leave it at that, but my sister wouldn't send videos likes that

darceybussell · 08/07/2017 21:28

Agreed - yuck! And when you're actually with them, they're covered in food and their parents say 'give Auntie Darcey a kiss!!' Aaarrrgghhh!!!

LaurieMarlow · 08/07/2017 21:31

Well tastes differ. My gut feel is that people who hate this stuff are a bit uptight, but I don't think you're being unreasonable necessarily.

I don't think it's worth bringing up with DS. Can you just refrain from commenting and then delete?

Agoddessonamountaintop · 08/07/2017 21:32

I have a similar response to the ones about 'loving' animals, where the parents film a protracted session of their dog licking the babies' head, face, mouth - tongues everywhere; cue the 'sooo cute' responses. So wrong in so many ways.

Alconleigh · 08/07/2017 21:32

Nope, it's bogging.

ladasha · 08/07/2017 21:43

I thought I was the only one who didn't find this cute! Always make me a bit queasy.

Same goes for pictures of kid with streaming snot and drool which always seem to be deemed share worthy. (Obviously I don't mind a bit as it's natural on babies, but when it's half of your kids face?! Just put the phone down and wipe it before you snap a picture)

Loveache · 08/07/2017 21:47

So glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'm finding the near-daily food videos very hard to stomach but obv can't tell her to stop.

No I don't find it cute. It's a bit grim even if it's your own dc.
I won't be taking pics of dd with food all over her face and put on social media when she weans, either. Always seems a little unfair that kids have no control over what pictures their parents put up.

Patriciathestripper1 · 08/07/2017 22:00

Envy boak

bloodymaria · 08/07/2017 22:01

obv can't tell her to stop.

Yes you can.

skyzumarubble · 08/07/2017 22:03

I've never come across videos like this.

ZiggyForever · 08/07/2017 22:03

Haha - I'm with you, I absolutely adore my little nephew but I really don't find photos or videos of him covered in food cute at all!

dollydaydream114 · 09/07/2017 00:10

I absolutely hate it when people post pictures of their babies covered in food on Facebook, but the final straw was when someone shared a video of their baby nephew puking. Had to unfriend them.

MrsJayy · 09/07/2017 00:15

It gives me the heave i worked with small children and it was the worst yoghurt and snot Envy I don't know why parents think photos of their babies head to foot in bolognaise (it is always bolognaise) adorable it really isn't

64PooLane · 09/07/2017 00:19

Hate these images too. Even if lumps of mush are smeared onto something/someone cute, that does not stop them from being lumps of mush, and I do not enjoy looking at them.

OhOurBilly · 09/07/2017 00:34

I have a seven month old who is weaning. I wouldn't send pictures or video to my dsis as it makes her feel ill. That's fine. My Mam loves them, equally fine.

I'd have to tell her 'Sis, he's cute and I love him, but please stop sending food videos as it makes me want to vom up my own dinner." Followed by funny meme. But me/sis generally communicate via the medium of memes.

I love taking pictures of ds enjoying new food though!
