Ds driven to airport this morning with friend at 4.00 this morning. At 8.10 phone call from Ds to say only him his friend and 1 other got there in time to board the flight teachers did not get there either.
I am mightily pissed off that the trip has gone so wrong already.Told Ds he should have got on the plane with the others and gone as that would have served them right.
Now they have a flight for tomorrow so lost a day of trip and it could happen again.
I am right to be so angry ? DH tells me to chill.

Had some good news college have acknowledged the blame.
Putting them in hotels for free and paying for food and drink have told Ds to order caviar and champagne on room service Grin

At 18 I would expect the students to be able to get there on time.

I have run several trips with younger teenagers that have bee a "meet at site" and they have all arrived on time with no issues.

So I am not convinced that you can lay the blame at the feet of the college.

Lolly49 If they take the piss with free food and drink, the college will rightly refuse to pay it.

BoneyBackJefferson · 08/07/2017 10:38

It appears the problem was the time they were told to meet didn't give them much leeway to get to departure gate etc before it closed.

Missed this on an update, clearly the college's fault, its good that they have accepted this.

As I understand it, the teachers didn't arrive on time as well as some of the students.

Of course it is the responsibility of whoever set the 'meet time' if it was the wrong time!

I don't think the OP's son should have just gone without the teachers, perhaps the teachers have all the information/passes/hotel details which they would need when they arrived, more sense to do what they did.

This will be fine now, OP, but I can see why you were annoyed at the mess up. Good learning curve to set off ages before you need to though, especially with additional security checks in airports/large numbers of people traveling.
