And they will appreciate that someone has taken the effort to really spell out how much difference they have made and how fantastic they have been.
I think often, we, as parent, think we have told them how thankful we are.
But actually I think it's unusual for someone to really go further than a 'thank you' iyswim. (I know I certainly didn't just as I didn't appreciate the amazing work she had done until much later on....)

No I got an orchid for my child's TA when he was leaving for secondary 2 years ago.

She still works at the school now and often tells me when it flowers and asks if my child is doing well ect

I think it's a lovely gift

I really want to say thankyou for everything they've done for him and for putting up with my tears and tantrums

Put that in a home-made card! If I got that from the parent of one of my students it would make my day.

I am a teacher and would be really happy to get an orchid. Much nicer than the Roses, Ferrero Rocher etc

dataandspot · 07/07/2017 21:37

Purple daisies

Are you both primary?

Would chocolates be bad for a male secondary teacher?

PurpleDaisies · 07/07/2017 21:57

He's secondary, I've done both at various times and am in primary now.

He is happy for any presents because secondary teachers don't often get them and would live chocolates.

The best present he got was a sponge! There was a back story though.

Lovely

The orchid is lovely, but what would mean a lot more is a card or note that says just how much you appreciate the time and care that they have put in for your son. These are the things that mean the most. I have kept every thank you card I have received over my career. I still think about the families that wrote them and remember each and every child.

I second what someone said earlier about going away...many teachers get away at the start of the holiday and therefore flowers and plants might not be the best gift.

Then again, I'd manage to kill a cactus.
