AIBU to confront my childminder over hiding Ofsted?

NCd as identifying.

We have been using a very local childminder 4 days a week since Christmas. I found out this evening from a friend looking at our local council childcare pages that my cm was Ofsted inspected at the end of January of this year. We had no idea! On reflection (and checking my emails) she asked for a recommendation letter not long after we started - of course it was on the Ofsted date so she obviously used it as her parental feedback. Her judgement was reduced from Good to Requires Improvement, but it was mainly because of paperwork and that doesn't surprise me.

I'm especially unhappy about not knowing as I'm a teacher who had Ofsted in February! AIBU to call her out on it? Do CMs have to give out letters post inspections like schools do? Must we be told about it?

They are required to inform all parents of the inspection and are required to share the result. She is seriously out of line here.

Sod OFSTEd what matters is how she actually is with your child. As a teacher you should know that.

Agree Red but a huge part of that relationship is trust. Wouldn't bother me about the Ofsted rating, managed a nursery for 18 years, but the lack of transparency would be a deal breaker for me

Why do you care? It's on the council child care pages, so not really hidden. Presumably you are happy with how she cares for your child, which is the important thing.

"a huge part of that relationship is trust"

Absolutely this. Presumably she kept this quiet because she was expecting a down grade.

What was your feedback to her back in January? Do you still feel the same way (Ofsted issue excepted?)

She is required to share it with you.
