I've made some hair accessories to sell at the school gates to raise money for dd class after some property was broken.

Really cheap max £2 for something ppl usually charge £10.

Very distracted with all the kids interested which is great and parents knew I'd be there and all next week.

Some parents didn't have money so took items and will pass along monies to the school office next week. That's fine.

One womans child grabs an item and then walked off, she saw and said where did you get that then just told child come on let's go and rushed away.

I didn't have time to stop her cannot find her on fb to message her. Also I didn't want to shout across all the other mums and potentially embarrass her.

It was only £2 but seriously it's for the school, I've spent ages making these items and I've used all my materials.

The woman in question doesn't like me, she looks down I think as she's quite well off and I'm not.

What do I say when I see her. She can't get away with this. Or am I being unreasonable.

From your description of what happened it could be inadvertent. She mightn't have known you were selling them and just thought a friend had given it to her or something. She still has to pay or return it, but be careful, no need to assume she's condoning theft.

SaucyJack · 07/07/2017 18:15

Pretend you're giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Send her a message suggesting that her little girl didn't realise they needed to be paid for, but they do and she can drop the £2 into the school office.

Or just call her a thieving cunt on the school FB group.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 07/07/2017 18:15

Don't leave it for the school to deal with! Unless they asked you to sell these items they have nothing to do with it!

I agree.

I'd message the cheeky woman tbh.

bimbobaggins · 07/07/2017 18:17

I wouldn't mention it to the school, they haven't asked you to make these . You need to get you selling methods under better control, absolutely don't give anyone anything until they have the money with them.
Stop tiptoeing round her , ask her to her face for the money, don't message, fb etc.

MeanAger · 07/07/2017 18:19

I'd send her a polite message along the lines of..
Hey thieving cow,
Just giving everyone a quick message who owes money for the accessories! Don't forget to pop the money in on Monday. So great everyone's contributing towards the school!
Have a great weekend!

This^^ is a good message to send.

Passthesalt1 · 07/07/2017 18:19

Ive sent Ilovecoleslaw message, you couldn't miss they needed to be paid for as there were prices on the cards where the bits were.

Good for you OP! Hope she coughs up the money! Not sure if you will be able to find out though?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/07/2017 18:28

Far better to call her out now, than wait, and pass the buck.
Well done, it's hard being out of your comfort zone.

MollyHopps · 07/07/2017 18:37

I hope it really was a misunderstanding and she does intend to pay. If not, hopefully the message you sent will embarrass her into it the cheeky bitch Grin

ohfourfoxache · 07/07/2017 18:42

Hope she pays up - what a cheeky cow Shock

StrangeLookingParasite · 07/07/2017 18:46

I don't want to earn a glare.

She is a thief. Any glares she sent your way would be from a guilty conscience - or a tantrum at not being treated as 'special'. Either way, consider the source.

Passthesalt1 · 07/07/2017 18:58

Pta head has said its rude and to ask her for the money.

Any reply to your message yet?

Hortonlovesahoo · 07/07/2017 19:10

I'd definitely be highlighting a list of names of mums that need to pay for them and give it to the school.

Sparklepants · 07/07/2017 19:28

If you're not fb friends she might not get your message.

Passthesalt1 · 07/07/2017 19:40

No reply and she hasn't read it. I guess I'll have to wait till Monday and I'll ask her.

Passthesalt1 · 07/07/2017 20:57

Nope but she's at a social event my friend has told me.
