I always write Aunty but I seem to be the only person who does. Should it be Auntie? AIBU to stick to Aunty?

Don't like either. Never used in my family directly, only as a descriptive. Just first names. Though other people's very young DCs use it as a kind term for local friends which bizarrely I quite like.

PurpleChai I see your 'antie' and I raise you 'Arntie'. Same person is also a fan of typing carn't instead of can't etc.

RebeccaWithTheGoodHair unless your name is Sally I don't see anything wrong with using Aunt instead of Aunty.

I prefer Aunt because it reminds me of my Great Aunt who I remember visiting when I was a child.
She wore Edwardian clothes (I'm fairly oldish) as she didn't believe in wasting good clothing by throwing them away, she smelled lovely, roses, lavender and lily of the valley.

She must have been about 100 years old but she was the kindest, sweetest person I ever knew. Aunt May is greatly missed.

However Auntie Pat used to swear like a sailor, drink like it was going out of fashion, smoke like a chimney and only washed on Sundays. She only ever had bad words to say about anyone and believed children should be forced to do as theyre told.

I'd prefer to be an Aunt than an Aunty but thats my personal preference.
