Am I being a mug here?

Every day after school ds plays football in the back garden, for hours, he only comes inside to eat and sleep.

At weekends he plays as much as he can, either outside, at the park, wherever he can. I take him to a footie club every week and most school holidays.

Great right? He's outdoors keeping fit, surely better than being inside being a couch potato.

Only he's trashed the garden, he's smashed 3 fence panels which we've had to replace, there's no grass left, he keeps bringing my washing inside because it's in his way and I'm sitting in fear of the window coming through.

What do I do? He's too young and the area is too bad for him to venture to the park alone.

Aw I will leave him to it.

I do wish we lived somewhere he could play out and make friends, unfortunately for now though we are where we are.

Get him a SKLZ Star Kick Trainer. Then he can use a proper football with less damage. The rebound nets are flimsy imo but this thing is much better.

Also try and get him into keepy uppy type skills. Find someone on YouTube and see if it inspires him.

Oh thanks for the tip, I've never seen those before, not sure if he'd go for one of those but I'm sure it would help his ball control, let's jut say he's got a lot more enthusiasm than he has ball control atm!

It's great he likes to exercise, but what about him coming inside to do his homework, help you with jobs etc...?

AstroTurf and a football goal at each end of the garden - not the prettiest but does the job! I also have a football loving nearly 9 year old who would play every hour he's awake if he could.........

I don't think beng a mug comes into this situation.
Yabu a bit, so is he. He needs to stop breaking things.
The grass .. let it go, get some seeds one day.

What about a fence panel or window broken means a month of no football in the garden? I bet he will discover his ball control skills instantly. It is really satisfying to smash something with a ball. Make it too costly for him to do it.
