To learn to drive with my kids in the car

Ok, I'll make this brief. I recently bought a car to practice driving in, I failed my driving test a few weeks ago due to a silly mistake. My instructor said if I hadn't made that mistake, I would be driving around on my own now. My plan now is to practice driving in my own car in between lessons before my next test. My husband is willing to come with me but it would mean my one year old would be in the back (occasionally my five year old would be in the car too)

When you pass your test you are going to be driving with them so frankly I don't see the problem with doing it now.

Kids are a distraction in the car, so I'd think it's better to practice now when your husband is with you rather than wait tbh.

My driving instructor suggested bringing my dc along for a few lessons in the future so that I can get used to having them in the car.

My mum did her driving lessons with me in the car when I was about 2. Apparently the driving instructor would feed me smarties Grin

Anyway... of course it isn't unreasonable. I would say it's perfectly sensible.

I'm doing exactly that now with my car. I failed my test on something really stupid (in fact I thought I'd already failed, so gave up really). The rest I just had a couple of minor faults.

I have my two DC in the back and my husband in the passenger seat. The fact I was test ready means it's not dangerous, DH is there to advise and hasn't had to intervene.

Of course it's not illegal!! How silly.

I learnt to drive with my 3 under 5's squished in the back. How else could I practise between lessons?

Also meant I was used to hearing the all the distractions they provide once I passed!!_

I don't think you should.
But that's because you said that the thought of driving with them there terrifies you.
Whilst you feel like that, you are not ready to drive.
You should not carry any pasengers until you are confident. Fair enough not the confidence of years and miles of driving. But a lot more confident than "terrified".

Your feelings will be a distraction, and that is dangerous.
