To want some urgent help with my car..

I'll try and bullet point 8 months of stress.

Bought a car from a dealers around 8 months ago. A week after pick up the DPF light came on.

It has played up ever since with as far as I'm concerned it not functioning properly and it ruining other parts of the car.

I've lost work due to it. I've had to refund work due to it, its cost and is still costing me a fortune.

I've rung the finance company who aren't interested.

The dealers are just fobbing me off.

Trading standards tell me to go to the finance co..who aren't interested.

I cannot carry on paying for this car yet due to it being financed and me now living on my own I can't afford to even swap it as have failed that apparently

Can anyone help me?

I think you're getting a hard time OP. A few years ago I was looking for a new car and told the salesman I didn't want a diesel as I don't do suitable journeys. He reassured me that it didn't matter and new diesel vehicles were fine on short journey. I stupidly believed him and ended up with a car totally unsuitable for my needs and had to trade it in a few months later.

If I were you, I'd sort out the DPF and look to trading it in for a petrol. Good luck.

missmove did you buy the car on your own? And do you deal with the garage yourself? I think single women get treated a lot worse tbh. If I had a man around, I bet I wouldn't have had half the problems I've had !

missmove38 · 11/07/2017 22:33

Thanks..it is clear all they want to do is sell cars..rubbish really.
Yes I did buy on my own..I have Siena few times and never been unhappy..don't worry i won't be in future just incase!

This makes me smile - I would love to see them try and pull this in the USA where they have proper consumer laws.

missmove38 · 17/07/2017 17:20

Wasonthelist that article may as well be me..aside from my car not costing as much I'm in the same boat..

Is a dpf classed as a consumable?

missmove38 · 17/07/2017 17:55

Araiwa I don't know? Anyone?

Yes, most manufacturers classify them as a consumable and therefore not covered under warranty. Audi/VW have issued bulletins on it in the past to their customers.

happymumof4crazykids · 17/07/2017 18:30

We had this with our Citroen grand Picasso. It was fab for years no problem at all then we got an engine management light. Diagnosis was dpf filter. We had it cleaned and did the fluid thing all fine for 2 weeks light came back on and the engine cut power. Changed the dpf filter and guess what 1 month later same thing. Car was struggling to reach 70mph and was buggered. It affected the turbo, and the epu?system and the car just wasn't worth fixing. It was 7 years old had been serviced regularly and was fantastic until the filter started playing up. It was driven For 90 miles on the motorway 5 days a week and around town on weekends.
We've now purchased a petrol car. Will never ever buy a diesel car again. The thing is petrol is so expensive to run :(

missmove38 · 17/07/2017 21:23

Orange bird shame vauxhall don't publicise theirs.

Mum what a shame and how odd it should suddenly play up? I am so fed up and anxious in mine..have lost all will to fight but don't know what to do

Any update? X

gamerchick · 21/07/2017 20:36

God been there.

Find a garage that does it, ask them to take it off and remap the engine. Or get the filter changed if it's cheaper. not cheap options unfortunately.

We're never getting a diesel again. I never want to see limp mode again ever.

Luckymummy22 · 21/07/2017 21:54

When we bought our diesel Astra we were told about the Filter and to make sure we understood about it.
We've got loads of issues with the dealer (too long to go into) but actually that's the one thing they did right.

missmove38 · 21/07/2017 22:08

Rolypoly no update. The managers just ignoring every email..head offices bounced back. The MD just referred the email I sent to some other dept..who surprise haven't been in touch.

Gamer chick I sympathise and am envious you have rid.

Lucky I wish they had..it's a nightmare.
