Aibu to ask how eBay works?

I have had something listed for 3 days and there have been no views at all. I have no idea if it is being hidden somehow. If I search for the item I can't find it. But I wondered if you can't find your own item?

Ahh yes sorry I got mixed up. I agree with putting wedding in the title.

iamdivergent · 05/07/2017 11:34

No problem. EBay is very hit and miss at times but hopefully you'll manage to sell them Smile

nannyuk · 05/07/2017 11:38

Ok I'll try adding wedding. It would just be a shame if they didn't sell because they took ages to make :)

Could you take more photos?

PutYourBracesTogether · 05/07/2017 11:40

I'd add 'prop' to the title too.

iamdivergent · 05/07/2017 11:44

Maybe add the sizes of them too?

nannyuk · 05/07/2017 11:45

I can't take more photos as I have literally nowhere in my house that's not full of wedding stuff. But I'll add prop to the title. Thanks

I just found it odd because all of my other items had views and i wondered if you search for your own listings they hide them. But it seems they are visible so that's good at least

I've just viewed them. I'd put "party", "decoration" and/or "accessories" in the title too. Just thinking if I was searching for that kind of thing, I wouldn't necessarily be searching for something specific, but if my party had that theme, I might search for "Alice in wonderland wedding party decorations", for example.

CaptainAmericasShield · 05/07/2017 11:49

Maybe try gumtree as well. No fees.

nannyuk · 05/07/2017 11:52

Ok I'll add party decoration too :) it's getting to be a long title. I haven't had much luck with gumtree really. I also wouldn't know what to list them for price wise

Wow 57 views now. Thank you :)

The search is based on the first few lines of the title, you need to put the most important words first, then the rest.
Name your photos with descriptive words rather than numbers
Keep the listing clear of any waffle, make is succinct and accurate.
Cassini picks up on descriptive words in the listing.

Lots of views with no sales on an item can indicate that it is not a popular item and it will be at the bottom if someone uses Best Match which is likely as it is the default search.

If you Google Cassini Ebay you will find this information and lots more. I have tried it out and it does make a difference to sales. However if you have something that people are not wanting to buy it won't sell, just list again with 'Sell similar' on a longer listing, it gives it more chance of being seen.

Ebay turn off visibility every so often. It might just be your turn to be hidden. A look on the Ebay selling forums will back this up. It doesn't matter so much with free listings but if you are paying to list it is very unfair and has caused a lot of discussion.

Now you have made people aware of your item it will probably sell.

is = it

nannyuk · 05/07/2017 12:54
