Aibu to let the dust settle?

Confession time: I haven't dusted since before Christmas Blush Is there any point to dusting? If anyone has a valid argument for it then I could be persuaded to start it up again, but I really don't miss doing it at all!

Does anyone else have any grim household confessions?

Youve made me feel all superior - i think i have dusted about 3 times since Christmas!

Our washing machine and tumble dryer are in a big cupboard at the bottom of the stairs...I empty the dryer and pile the clothes on the stairs. My stairs now double as a wardrobe as clothes rarely make it to the bedroom before being needed again...

No shame, I work full time and volunteer just don't have time to faff about with the washing. And yes, I could carry the clothes up when I am going - but why bother?

I am a slattern and I embrace it. Wink

I only dust because of allergies, otherwise I wouldn't bother. And I'm still not great at it. I have very low cleaning standards and I'm ok with that!

I'm pretty sure that the point of dusting is to get rid of dust?

lorelairoryemily · 04/07/2017 13:34

I dust every second day!!

ThePants999 · 04/07/2017 13:38

We dust perhaps once every couple of years.

bilbodog · 04/07/2017 15:48

Will - it just comes back though 😂

memyselfandisolodjsjajaj · 04/07/2017 20:08

I really really really really really hope this is a joke....

Bobbiepin · 04/07/2017 20:16

I got dusting gloves. Admittedly I'm more amused by them than I think is normal but it does make it a little less dull. Saying that, I tend to dust only when we are having visitors. I think DH is inviting people round more often so I clean more regularly!

Justhadmyhaircut · 04/07/2017 20:17

We have lived here for 2 years. If /when we move I will dust then Grin.

kitkatspiderrat · 04/07/2017 20:21

what is this "dusting" youre all talking of??

Blossomdeary · 04/07/2017 20:22

The purpose of dusting is to move dust around so that it can settle somewhere else; then you move it around again and is settles somewhere else again; then you..............I am sure you are getting the picture.

I am feeling very proud of myself as I mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors on Friday (with the "help" of 2 year old GS) for the first time since we moved here a year ago.

Questioningeverything · 04/07/2017 20:25

Dusting 😂😂 away with you. I spray some furniture polish around when my mums due to visit but it doesn't hit anything. Gives her the nice smell when she walks in and falsely represents me as someone who has time/ energy/ or gives a crap about such things

trowelmonkey1 · 04/07/2017 20:25

I'm with bil and just Grin I'm not sure when I last dusted. However, we've lived in the house for 9 years and no one has died from a nasty infection. Yet.

Crispbutty · 04/07/2017 20:27

I'm pretty much a shit housekeeper but I do it once a week..

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 04/07/2017 20:29

YANBU

There is no point dusting on a regular basis as you can't really tell the difference between before and after

I would say you need at least a couple of months worth of dust to make it a worthwhile activity!

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 04/07/2017 20:52

I've had to dust recently due to arse full of threadworms just as precaution

mortificado · 04/07/2017 21:05

Questioning thought I was the only one who did this Blush 😂
