And I don't know what to do. The cat keeps going after it but not doing anything when he gets it.

What am I supposed to do. I feel a bit sick every time I see the mouse - do you think there might be more of them?

Probably.

Have you seen Cinderella?

Any chance you could embrace them?

They're not really ones for living alone it has to be said.

Hi there,

I had a mouse in my house last year, everyone will tell you that "if you see one, there will be ten more" but I only ever saw the one.

I think it came in from the rain (it was a hoppy brown field mouse, rather than a scurryinggrey house-mouse, and we live in London nowhere near any fields).

We tried to sweep the mouse out of the front door with a broom, but it amde a dash for the fireplace and disappeared.

What we did:

Bought some wire wool from amazon and shoved it down the hole I think the mouse came out of (down the back of a Victorian fireplace).

Bought three humane traps and baited with peanut butter (thankfully we never caught anything as our release plan was hazy at best).

Doused the house in peppermint oil (because apparently mice hate that).

And thank (touch wood) was the end of Mouse-Gate.

The one thing that really helped was remembering that they are more scared of you than you are of them.

I sat really REALLY still in the corner of the room with an empty tupperware tub then sprang like a ninja. Did it again half an hour later. I should hire myself out!

We had one. And it was only one. It was brown on top with a white tummy and sticky up ears so i think it was a field mouse. They tend to live a more solitary life. I only saw it late at night. It would pop out from under the dresser in the kitchen once or twice for a bit of the dry dog food.

i didn't throw it tiny bits of bread. ever. oh no

If the cat brought it in it might be the only one.

I used to catch them (big tub is you're nervous, easier to grab base of tail if you can stand it) and then either release or dispatch depending on their state.

Or wait until the cat has hold of it and grab the cat by the scruff.

Or you can get humane traps on amazon.

You can get mouse mesh too which cover air holes (brick shaped) and stop them coming in. Worked for us.
