To wake up DH

Smarshian · 02/07/2017 09:00

We have agreed we will both have one lie in a week. Yesterday was my day, he got up at 6, I got up at 8.15 (he didn't wake me, dd was just being noisy). Today I got up at 5 with dd, is it reasonable to wake him now at 9? We didn't agree times for lie in, but I want to enjoy time together as a family.

I'm just sat here thinking exactly the same thing (though I never seem to get a lie in because I'm an early riser). Wake him up, or send DD in to do it Grin

Smarshian · 02/07/2017 09:03

She's 6months so don't think she has that capability quite yet Grin

Yes, 9am is late enough for a lie-in when you have young kids!

SleepWhatSleep1 · 02/07/2017 09:05

I class anything beyond 8am as a glorious lie in Grin

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 02/07/2017 09:05

9am is a lie in. Do some hoovering :)

sofreakingtired · 02/07/2017 09:08

Definitely! 9 is the deadline for me - although DH is getting extra today as I just put DD down for nap and he was out last night, so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet!

HandbagCrazy · 02/07/2017 09:08

I would let him sleep until 9:30. If you haven't discussed times, you're deciding he's had enough of a lie in but he may not agree.
Also, maybe invest in ear plugs if your lie in was cut short by baby noise as he deliberately left you to enjoy your lie in?

Smarshian · 02/07/2017 09:13

I woke him up. He was fine with it 👌

I think it's unfair to wake him when you haven't agreed a time. I can't imagine it going the same way if you'd posted that your husband woke you up at 9am because he decided you'd slept enough - people would be telling him to look after his own child and let you sleep!

Get some ear plugs and sleep longer yourself next week Smile

Smarshian · 02/07/2017 09:17

I'm not complaining about waking up at 8.15. I was fine with it. Also I have earplugs but can't use them as they hurt my ears (dunno must have weird shaped ears)

I wake my DH up everyday. Usually I persuade the cat to purr loudly in his ear and pretend it was her fault Wink

BeepBeepMOVE · 02/07/2017 10:14

That's mean. Lie in means being left to wake naturally.

acquiescence · 02/07/2017 10:16

Depends if your I have something to do really. If you don't have plans and he is still sleeping it seems a little mean, although I do agree it is a decent lie in. If you have jobs to get on with or an outing than yanbu.

PinkHeart5911 · 02/07/2017 10:19

When it is my day for a lie in I get up until 10/11 infact I am still in bed now. Dh was welcome to do the same yesterday but he chose to get up at 9am neither me to the dc woke him.

Mrsglitterfairy · 02/07/2017 10:21

I would have left him to it. You never know when you might really need a long lie in and he might wake you up when you're really enjoying your sleep.
My DH is still in bed now and I'm leaving him to it. He was out last night so no doubt has a bad head and my DSs are older (9 & 6) so we're happily downstairs playing iPads & watching tv

Gillian1980 · 02/07/2017 10:21

We count noon as our lie-in cut off time. Same arrangement as you, each get a lie-in day at the weekend.
