Poorly 4yo and medicine refusal

Posting for advice! Need your help.

My 4yo was sent to a&e yesterday and has been diagnosed with scarlet fever so needs to take antibiotics 4 times a day for 10 days. Plus Calpol and a throat spray.

Ive tried everything I can think of. Bribery, coaxing, blackmail, nicely, shouting. Last time resulted in me having to use the syringe which did not end well Sad And will probably make the next time worse.

Please help me. Any advice?

Crush them up in a chocolate mousse. Don't mention anything is in there. You have got to get that medication in your child.

Is it the orange liquid? It is horrible. Sorry but the only way I ever got that in was brute force. Ds1 had it for tonsillitis when he was around 3ish. He had ended up on hospital on a drip for dehydration and the dr decided that it was probably less traumatic in the long run to just grab him and get them in than give them to him via an iv.
Ds2 had them for scarlet fever and he was actually ok took them and had a chocolate button straight after. They are so bitter yogurt and juice barely touches the taste. Think you may have to just get them in any way you can.

I'd try again with the syringe. Squirt it right into the back of his throat so he can't spit it out, then give him a sweet or something to take away the taste. They realise pretty quickly that the faster they accept the medicine, the faster they get the sweet. Also try to be as "no nonsense" as possible, even if it's upsetting to you.

Yea it's the orange liquid stuff. We were warned it's not nice tasting.

I know he needs it, there's no question. Just trying to make it as easy and painless as possible for both of us.
