To ask for your favourite slow cooker recipes? We've just bought one after hearing how good/convenient they are and now need some inspiration!

I make lentil and sausage casserole in ours a lot. (Veggie sausages as DH is veggie.)
Everybody loves it, even the fussy kids.
you need

  • a tin of chopped tomatoes
  • some stock for the lentils otherwise it'll be too dry

then basically chuck what you like in it -

  • potatoes cut into small chunks (cooks quicker)
  • diced celery
  • diced onion
  • sausages
  • lentils it's nice with baked beans in too. Kind of a cowboy beans and sausage meal. Smile

If you look on the Food section of MN, I'm sure there's a slow cooking recipe thread on there somewhere with tons of ideas and inspiration too Smile

Thank you :) I have a packet of lentils somewhere...

Chilli con carne's also a firm slow cooker fave too.
So's beef stew.

Pulled pork. SO GOOD.

Autumnleaves105 · 29/06/2017 23:29

Loving these ideas so far. I can imagine chilli in the slow cooker must have depth of flavour than just quickly doing it in a pan! Also love pulled pork too, dh will be happy with that one too!

Put cut up raw veggies on the bottom, like carrots, potatoes, leeks, onions, whatever you wish, put a whole, seasoned chicken on top and let it cook for 6-8 hours on high. No liquid need! It's delicious.

Ooh, not tried the chicken sat on vegetables before, sounds lovely! Do you really not need any liquid? Surely it'd be too dry or burn or something?
