Dd - festivals... clothes... money!

Dd is 17 and does quite a lot of babysitting. She bought herself tickets to a music festival next week. I said I would buy her some new shorts and a top as a present. She's just informed me that she has no money left from babysitting and therefore has no spending money for the festival. AIBU to say I will give her 60 quid for food and drinks but not buy the clothes? Can't really afford both tbh. She says she wants the clothes and isn't bothered about having no money for drinks and food Hmm

If they are going by car they can do a second run for the food!

Unless it's somewhere like Creamfields where once you're in, you're in and no exit passes (not that Creamfields is this weekend).

Before I had kids, under 20, I went to a lot of festivals with hardly any money. I never had enough to buy food. I'd take pot noodles and lots of tinned food which I'd eat cold, but there was usually a tent that did hot water for pot noodles. Take her to Aldi/Lidl to buy that kind of food, enough to last her and if there is any spare she can buy the clothes.

Now I go to family friendly festivals and we spent over £50 a day on food it's ridiculous, but teens can survive on crisps, beans, and beer for a few days.

One hot meal in evening
I doubt she will need a hot meal at a festival.

Indeed, I often go weeks without a hot meal. Hot does not mean more nutritious or tasty.

She's planned her entire three days food Shock

Very organised. She says she will probably buy two cooked breakfast type things and everything else she will take.

I never said a hot meal was better in any way. Flipping heck. Just pointing out if snacking all day or not eating at all then she need one "meal" food whatever once a day. Dosnt think that was such a contentious statement! People eat once a day.... lock me up!

I'd say it was easy done if they are going in a car. I don't spend £60 a week on food for me and the kids so a teen should be easy especially if they have access to a car and can take stuff.

I'm driving them there Hmm
