To ask you how you make your cornflake cakes?

My oven is not working...waiting for replacement...and I have to bring some cakes to school tomorrow afternoon for an event.

I thought I'd make cornflake cakes ...no baking needed! Anyway, in my mind, they were just melted chocolate and cornflakes but Googling has brought up all these recipes with golden syrup and butter in them.

I don't want to go to the shop just for syrup! Do I have to use it? Can I just do butter and chocolate? Or just choc? I have some mini marshmallows which I thought I'd put a few of on the top of each...any advice?

I use condensed milk in mine, and cocoa powder rather than chocolate.

Coddiwomple · 28/06/2017 13:30

I just melt chocolate butter and honey, I never have any syrup anyway.
It's been working fine so far

I have to try the condensed milk ones now!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/06/2017 13:44

The marshmallow point isn't just for muslims, its for all vegetarians as well.

I do the chocolate, butter and syrup version. Otherwise mars bar rice krispie cakes are fab!

Ooo now I want to try the condensed milk ones!

Went to the shop and bought cornflakes (had to go to the further shop to get gluten free cornflakes - these better be worth it as they almost cost me an asthma attack!), best chocolate ever (Fazer milk chocolate), mars bars, and marshmallows (though I might leave the marshmallows out now because would be nice to give some to our Muslim neighbours). These are going to be so good Grin

Melt chocolate butter and sugar together. Stir in cornflakes and set in fridge. Lovely and goey and crunchy all at the same time.

I am totally going to try the melted mars bar version with DD in the holidays.

MrsOverTheRoad · 28/06/2017 14:17

Chaz but user was telling me in case there were Muslims in DD's class..and I pointed out there weren't and no restrictions at all.

If there are vegans on here, surely they;re aware of what they can and can't eat?

Well I've only got cornflakes! I'm already planning to buy mars bars when the whole point of this thread was to avoid the shops!

Barry I can't believe you even suggested that! Wash your mouth out and think about what you've said!!

Another one here wanting to try mars bars and cornflakes, sounds lush!

Possibly the most unhealthy children's snack ever but fabulous.

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 28/06/2017 18:21

I do two versions

I look after a dairy free little boy and we make the ones with syrup cocoa and vitalite - they are chewy and delicious

I also do the melted chocolate ones too but obv not when my small friend is visiting

Shredded wheat is better!
