Aibu - is this gross, or no big deal?

My OH often does not brush his teeth at night, only in the morning. Once a day. I tried to hint by leaving the bathroom light on 'for when you brush', eventually I plain asked him to and he said "Nooo, i'm so comfy now" (in bed).

Aibu to think he should brush twice a day at least? It bugs me!

NHS advice is very clear. Brush at least twice a day, last thing at night and at one other time. His teeth and gums may be fine now but these things eventually catch up with you, unfortunately.

But even without taking into account dental health, surely he can see how much nicer it would be for you (and him) for him to have nice fresh minty breath when you go to bed? Really selfish not to think of you.

The minger I knew also didn't change his 'disposable' daily contact lenses. It was a grim few months. I can't relate to someone with hygeine issues.

My brush routine is in the morning. I don't have a sweet tooth so maybe that helps.

You need to brush for at least 3 minutes and brush each individual tooth and along the gumline. Then floss. Then tongue scrape. I do it once but dentist says my technique is excellent.

Gross. But - I also did this until I left home for uni aged 18. My parents, who are intelligent people who took me to the dentist and did everything else one expects from responsible parents, never made me clean my teeth before bed, or even mentioned it. So I didn't really realise you were supposed to do this until I saw others doing it religiously (ditto flossing).

Somehow though by me and my parents managed to have healthy teeth. Probably because none of us eat much sugar. It's odd as when I visit with my kids, my parents make them go and do their teeth before bed Confused

So at night when you go to bed he hasn't brushed his teeth for about twelve hours? There would be no kisses from me until he changed his filthy habit.Shock

Lashalicious · 11/12/2017 22:03

Grotesque.

AlexaAmbidextra · 11/12/2017 23:32

Not changing daily contact lenses is hardly minging. They can easily last more than one day. How filthy do you think eyes are?
