On plane and couple sat in our seats

I just sat down on the aisle seat but my DP then didn't know where to sit. Cabin crew asked to see this couples boarding passes but the woman started shouting that she's nervous traveller and has to sit by the window & can't be apart from her do.

There were seats behind free so we said we were happy to sit elsewhere, then we find another couple had been split up unnecessarily - so they moved to sit together. And we sat together

But really, why had ground staff split these couples up when it wasn't necessary - isn't it UR to split people up on planes when they don't have to be? Surely this is just churlish

Myself, DH and our then 2 year old DD had someone on a flight get the stewardess to ask us to move DD as 'she was a baby and could sit on my knee' so the woman could sit in the aisle seat across from her husband. I said no, my DD was 2 and we had paid a small fortune for her seat. The stewardess came back another 2 times, to check our boarding passes and ask again if we would sit with our DD on our knees. I said no, as we had already been fleeced for the price of the ticket for her, so we were entitled to use the seat for her. Turns out the woman's husband was sitting just off centre of her seat anyway, so instead of sitting just behind him on the aisle, she was sitting just in front of him. Weird people!

It shouldnt even be an issue.if you are refusing to sit in your allocated seat and trying to take a seat from somebody who has had paid a lot of extra £ to book it then you either move to your own seat or security haul your ass off the plane. Sod your luggage, no plane delay, no comeback. Your an arse your responsibility

Why should innocent parties have to kowtow to ignorant entitled bullies? I am now dreading our flight on friday after reading all these posts😀 but no bugger is getting our seats without a damm good reason 😀

People need to learn to stick to the rules. I go to my chosen seat. I always like the aisle and I never like to move.

'I said no, my DD was 2 and we had paid a small fortune for her seat. The stewardess came back another 2 times, to check our boarding passes and ask again if we would sit with our DD on our knees. '

PLEASE start complaining about staff who do this!! Complain on social media and name them. They should NOT even consider behaving in such a manner, the person who is not sitting in his/her assigned seat and refuses to budge, that staff members needs to call security, NOT try to bully people to move. This appears to be more common than ever now, there was another thread on here that was pulled but it was the same type of behaviour. On top of that, you're not supposed to have a child that age on your knees.

you either move to your own seat or security haul your ass off the plane. Sod your luggage, no plane delay, no comeback

Please don't think for an instant that I'm defending entitled seat squatters, but if someone's taken off an aircraft, security requires their luggage to be unloaded too. This means there probably will be a delay, which the staff will do all they can to avoid ... something which the p*takers know only too well and use to their advantage

Since the airlines have practically everyone's credit/debit card details, I wonder if fining people for refusing to move out of the "wrong seat" would work any better ... ?

lessthanBeau · 27/06/2017 18:22

So if you pay for specific seats(we have a party of ten all seated together which we've all paid for) if some seat squatter sits in them and refuses to move and we get split up why can't we have our money back? Do they just take your allocated seat payment and say tough ? Surely that can't be right is there no comeback for a refund?

Willow2017 · 27/06/2017 20:00

Yes fining them the cost of their flight would be an idea 😀

If there is 10 of you you should all just pile on top of them 😀
