WIBU - DH or I?

Wasn't sure how to word the title, so gave up Grin

We have a 3 day old son. We like 2 boys name (1 we absolutely adore and the other we just like and tbh, it's a new like unlike the other one which we have adored for years, so more likely to live in years to come).

However, the female version of the name is the only girls name we like atm, so I think we should save it and go with the boys name we like so we will always have at least 1 girls name we like.

DH thinks we should go with the boys name we love because we actually do have a son right now and that we may never get a girl/have more, etc.

Who is right?

your DH is right , you may only have boys.

If you do have a girl you could always have a Theo and a Thea. Or you may find a girls name you prefer when the time comes.

Congratulations

Sorry, I'm also in the camp that if he looks like a Theo and it suits him, then there's your answer. It may very well end up that if you had a girl at some stage, Thea may seem wrong when you consider it for the real baby girl and no-one gets the lovely name :(

dubmumof2 · 26/06/2017 00:25

PS Congratulations to you on the safe arrival of your DS

Fletchasaurus · 26/06/2017 06:59

I love Theo, not 100% sure about Thea. Congratulations on your little one. Use the name, as pp have said, your taste may change or you might not have a girl x

Nocabbageinmyeye · 26/06/2017 07:10

Your dh is 100% right

WinterWinds001 · 26/06/2017 07:10

Go with Theo! When I had DD (Less than 2 years after DS) none of the girls names that we loved when pregnant with DS were on the list and she ended up with something entirely different than DS would have had, had he been a girl.

GinIsIn · 26/06/2017 07:13

Your DH is right. What about Freya for a girl if you have one?

SeagullsStoleMyChurro · 26/06/2017 07:30

I worked with a Maxine whose brother was Maxwell. I guess her parents had a similar dilemma and solved it thus Grin

Funnyface1 · 26/06/2017 07:31

Congratulations on your baby! I understand the dilemma. When we had ds we knew his name from the 20 week scan but with dd we spent the whole pregnancy scouring names and pulling our hair out, desperate to get it right. In the end my dh held her in his arms (c section so he held her first) and named her. It just felt right.

I would agree with your dh, you have your baby boy now. And your tastes could change a lot in the next few years before a dd may come along. Also Theo is an awesome name. I also think you could do a lot better than Thea for the girl, please don't tell me off!

We have a Theo

He's an absolute joy, never regretted the name, we have a DD who's names everyone says go well with his the middle name is on the thread further up
