AIBU to be paranoid about this?

So I work with a someone who is junior to me, although I am not her direct boss. We have had some mild work disagreements previously which sort of ended in me saying that I was not willing to argue the point with her and it was happening as I planned.

Yesterday, whilst happening to agree on a work issue, she suddenly piped up:

"You know, i've decided I like you now! I didn't before, I thought you were a bit rude, but now I understand you better!"

My first reaction, before a sense of tact kicked in, was to burst out laughing and exclaim:

"Phew! Now I can sleep at night!" She didn't seem bothered by my reaction and simply started chatting about something else.

I have heard of this type of proclamation being used as social conditioning so the person tried to keep the 'being liked' going. Does this seem likely (the girl is 21 years old) or am I just being paranoid?

I think she sounds like a breath of fresh air! Smile

I would say honesty rather than 'social conditioning'.

She didn't like you, now she does.

That is all

Don't over analyse

Yes, probably just being 21, 'honest' as in rudely entitled to say what the hell she likes to anyone, boss included, as the entitlement goes hand in hand with no common sense. Oh and possibly years of being 'a breath of fresh air' to an adoring army of FB friends 😄 Ahhh 21!

I think you responded exactly the right way 😂😂😂
