To think washing your shoes in sink is yuck?

My father has been cleaning his shoes in the kitchen sink. With the vegetable brush. They are nice cream suede shoes which he has marked by accident. Apart from the issues surrounding treating suede shoes this way (he has just put vanish platinum on the stain Hmm) I argued that cleaning his shoes in the kitchen sink, with the vegetable brush, is not at all hygienic. He argued that I was imagining things, as his shoes only have a bit of dust on them, and that's what vegetables would have on them too so it's no worse. He says he has worn these shoes 6 times. Whilst they look relatively new, he did walk the dog in them yesterday - they were out for at least an hour. Who is BU?!?

The dishes were still in the sink what a lazy bugger he is didn't even take them out or wash them first that would piss me right off

I'm not a clean freak at all - my house is a pigsty! But cleaning shoes in the kitchen sink is just wrong IMO.

DP does this and I really don't like it! He also will put shoes on a table, that's also wrong IMO!

Wouldn't bother me. I suspect that we slatterns have stronger immune systems, and of course more time for titting about on MN doing things other than cleaning and stressing about others' hygiene habits.

Yuck, I'm with you OP! There might have been dog poo/wee, petrol, vomit or anything on the shoes!

I used to be obsessive about hygiene and contamination and I'm so much more relaxed about it now (after three kids) but I still wouldn't want dirty shoes in the sink. And the veg brush would have to be retired immediately!
