To ask my neighbour to move their trampoline slightly out of sight when I have viewers round to my house?

Trying to sell my house at the moment, although we are detached we are very very close to our neighbours house. The only thing really separating us from the trampoline is a 6ft fence. When you look out of the back bedrooms all you see is this looming big trampoline (gardens are quite small). AIBU?

Yes Wayne, I do accept I am being unreasonable - I don't like conflict!

Fimbo, what did the viewer say? Then we can decide whether it was her/him who was being unreasonable as well.

wotzsaname · 21/03/2007 13:23

I wouldn't think that would be high on the list of things that put buyers off. It wouldn't bother me if it was in the garden, and I wouldn't move mine if my neighbour asked.

Hope you have a good house sell.

"I see they have a trampoline next door, are they very noisy"

To which you reply, No, only when they invite us over to join in, they are lovely people. To be honest they dopn't use it that much. So, may I draw your attention the the plug points in the room!"

lionheart · 21/03/2007 13:28

Trampolines aren't noisy, though, are they? Squeak, thump, squeak, thump, squeak ... not so bad.

stleger · 21/03/2007 13:28

Having lived next door to a family where the kids sat on the wall or shed roof and watched us eat in our kitchen, I would avoid living next door to a trampoline. It was difficult to keep my kids at the table when next door were having fun.

Edmond · 21/03/2007 13:30

if its a family house i would expect to see garden toys on the garden, otherwise it would mean I live next door to a miserable old cowbag (like now) who complains about my children playing in the garden, ggrr

HoppyDaddy · 21/03/2007 13:30

Hearing the neighbour's kids on a trampoline is better then hearing your neighbours screwing! Imagine the viewer then, "are your neighbours noisy? My, they are energetic, I'll have what they are having"!!

Fimbo · 21/03/2007 13:30

. Lets hope Beryl who is coming to view tomorrow, doesn't mention it then

OP posts:
lionheart · 21/03/2007 13:32

Did they have children, Fimbo?

Fimbo · 21/03/2007 13:35

No, its a family house but its only old gimmers on their own that appear to be viewing at the moment (my friend is selling in the same area and she's only getting old codgers too).

OP posts:
TeeCee · 21/03/2007 13:35

Viewer - I see next door have a trampoline, are they very noisy

Fimbo - no not really they are usually in using the indoor swimming pool and sauna and steam room etc. But you'll see for yourself when they give you full use while they are off on teh usual 5 holidays a year. Smashing people, wish I could take them with me. Now, moving on to the en suite bathroom, you'll see my DH has just installed this wet room...."

Fimbo · 21/03/2007 13:37

LOL TC! Beryl could then bounce on the trampoline, sail over the fence and land neatly in her own back garden.

OP posts:
lionheart · 21/03/2007 13:38

That's what it sounded like Fimbo.

Gobbledigook · 21/03/2007 13:38

I personally think it's out of order for you to ask them to do that.

Trampolines are not exactly unsightly anyway are they? What is the problem?

lionheart · 21/03/2007 13:38

Beryl's the one.

ScottishThistle · 21/03/2007 13:39

Say to viewers "Oh they're not noisy on the trampoline but the children all play the trumpet!!!"

q7 · 21/03/2007 13:40

Yes, you're being unreasonable. By all means remove things from your own garden or house to make it look good, but why should your neighbours?

Fimbo · 21/03/2007 13:41

Its because one viewer mentioned it GDG. I have accepted I am being unreasonable, now come and join in the fun. . I take it you have a trampoline btw?

"I see they have a trampoline next door, are they very noisy"

WTF?! Were they serious? Ha ha, am ROFL!!

Tutter · 21/03/2007 13:41

(have you got the message yet fimbo? )

Gobbledigook · 21/03/2007 13:41

sORRy, yes, should have read the thread first!!

Yes, we have a 14ft one so we are SOOOOOOPER noisy

lionheart · 21/03/2007 13:42

Yes, we've moved on from the original question. Now we're trying to sell Fimbo's house.

q7 · 21/03/2007 13:43

We do have one, but I put it away for the winter and haven't got it out yet. So we're only seasonally noisy.
