To REALLY dislike bedtimes in this hot, light weather?

Tell me it's not just me!! On my own tonight, DS5 has been pretty good apart from a strop because he wanted to eat a yoghurt in bed no chance but DD (just 4) is being a challenge to say the least, been up about 6 times since lights out at 8 with just general pissing about Angry

They usually go to bed great but since this hot weather every night one or the other has been an absolute pain!

AIBU to ask you to tell me what's going on at bedtime in your house to make me feel better!

Can you have bedtime be a bit later, but with a longer wind down time?

We live in France where bedtimes are later for children, so our DC have always been up later than their British counterparts. In summer, they have a good run around in the late afternoon to tire them right out, and then a cool bath after dinner. We tell them they can do quiet playing or quiet activities until bed. We also have blackout blinds so not a scrap of light gets in!

On the weekends they also set up with a DVD after the bath, so they're nice and sleepy by the time bedtime rolls round.

I find that as long as they are quiet and calm, it's far better to put them to bed later, than to fight them all the way. If anyone acts up, they get sent straight to bed, which really only has to happen once for them to know it's a real threat and to know that they would prefer to listen to the rules and stay up.

It's still 31 degrees here... DS (4) is a nightmare to get to bed at the best of times. He's currently bouncing on his bed refusing to go to bed Hmm

I feel your pain op!

GrinGrin how this has turned into a 'yoghurt in bed thread'

Both went to bed beautifully tonight, no yoghurt required, still boiling here though, it's just rained and now somehow it seems even hotter!
