Induction. Tomorrow I'm being induced due to being 42 weeks. I'm terrified of it due to figure etc like 90% emergency C-section rate and a much higher chance of things going wrong in general so I really don't want to be induced.

Any advice on how to kick things off? This is my last chance to go into labour before induction and I'm desperate. Help!!!

Acupressure works a treat.
Sweep of membranes.
Something that powerfully evacuates your bowels - castor oil is now frowned on (but it works a treat) , a hot lentil curry is a good alternative

induction too and baby arrived swiftly. Hmm at a comment above thread to "lazy shites" because actually, that's how we joke about the ones that don't come out when forecast and we go over. ummm, can't force them out. Good luck OP

Hot curry and an energetic shagging session.

Worked for me.

Think positive, it might be fab! Walk, bounce, don't sit down! I was induced, one pessary, 2cm-delivery in 40 mins.

You don't have to be induced, if your placenta is functioning well and baby is happy, you could leave off a few days (or as long as you want, it's your body) and have daily monitoring. Your baby doesn't suddenly turn into a pumpkin at 42 weeks. In other parts of Europe the window is much longer before offering induction as due dates are a guide only.

90% can't be right. I was induced. I was glad as it sped things up. I didn't have a section either.

My youngest nephew was born after being induced - less than an hour from waters being broken to his being in mum's arms. Couple of stitches needed, but nothing terrible. His mum was worried too, but it was very smooth and straightforward and nowhere near as bad as she expected.
