To be pissed off that I sold my old maternity dress on a pre-loved site for £8 and just saw the same woman who bought it 2 months ago putting it up on the same site for £22 !

I've bought things on eBay and sold them again for more! What's the problem?

IWantABlueBanana · 18/06/2017 22:47

I'd be pissed off and comment. I can tend to be rather react then think though.

wannabestressfree · 18/06/2017 22:47

It's too hot to give a shit.

esk1mo · 18/06/2017 22:50

thats so cheeky, i had someone do that with something i sold. AFAIK she never managed to budge it because she over charged.

buy it back now and put it back on the market for £23 Grin

Like most people here, I say, you agreed a price with her. What she does afterwards is absolutely nothing to do with you. All you can do is reconsider how much you sell stuff for in future.

I know people will disagree with me here, but I still think the same if you give someone something and they later sell it. At the point you gave it to them you stopped owning it and did not want any money for it. If you wanted to sell it, you should have sold it. If you wanted the person to pay you for it you should have said so. If you were happy to give it away, it is none of your business if they later sell the item because it is no longer useful/doesn't fit/isn't quite what they needed. You gave it to them. It's theirs.

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2017 22:54

It's just weird that you'd even think anything at all about this?

Even weirder that someone thinks the profit should be donated to charity Confused

'Profit' is not a dirty word. It's a good thing, unless someone is being unscrupulous in their profit making obviously.

But making a straightforward profit as this woman has done...well I really don't understand your problem?

NoodleNinja · 18/06/2017 22:58

Oh this happened to me once but I was the second seller. I bought a Next top off ebay for £6, received it and didn't like the fit but the seller had a no returns policy so I put it back on ebay but for bids instead of buy it now. I think I put a starting price of about £4 or so but it ended up selling at £36! I have no idea why someone wanted to pay that price for it but I wasn't going to argue about it. I did wonder if the original seller had ever looked at my sold items and thought 'you asshole'.

I would be a tad miffed but there is naff-all you can do. It's hers now.

Puts me in mind of someone who bought something 'collectible' off a work colleague (won't say what as it's rather 'outing.'

The man i know bought it off his colleague for £200 and sold it to a collector for £500. The colleague was incensed as this man bragged at work how he had made £300 on the sale. (The item had cost around £150 new.)

The man at work who sold the stuff was so angry that he tried to turn everyone at work against the man who bought it and sold it on, and asked a solicitor for legal advice to see if he could claim the profit that was made.

The answer was of course NO.

The relationship between them never recovered.

Personally I thought the man who made the £300 profit was a bit of a nob for bragging about it, but the other man behaved like a dick after. So they were as bad as each other really.

Don't ever go to a car boot sale, OP, and find a bargain which is worth a lot more and then say nothing to the carbooter!!! People can sell for whatever people are prepared to pay.
