We have a Friday quiz at work. Entire building of 300 people. One person sends out one question and it will be personal ... like what's my dogs name and then multiple choice answers.

The person who sent it out today wanted everyone to not answer just 1 question about themselves but 7.

When they sent the answer out they then included lots of photos of themselves, their family, their car etc

It was breath takingly cringeworthy

So it's just one question a week?

Actually, if we did this in my office I'd ask this question:

Who told me that they thought that Richard (senior manager) was a complete tosser who didn't know his arse from his elbow?

That would make a fun afternoon . Although possibly Jenny wouldn't be speaking to me by the end of it

This is the weirdest quiz, though. I imagine new employees being told, and just thinking "WHAT?!". But maybe it's quite good fun when you're actually there, I dunno.

I used to work somewhere where they did stupid quiz things. There were also fancy dress competitions and decorate your office as a theme competitions. And the ennnndless cupcakes people brought in to sell... 😩

It was your turn to set the questions and someone you hated at work got the right answer but you didn't want to give it to them? Or there was a passive aggressive smiley, or something? I remember it date details of the quiz were so bizarre.

Either that, or another MNer works in your office, or many workplaces are weirder than you'd think...

I quite like the idea of it - which is presumably to encourage team building by getting to know each other better, especially people in different departments or floors who you might not see that often.

But if the custom is one question only, then 7 is definitely overkill and the family photos rather cringey.

A firm I used to work for did something similar for new entrants. They'd recruit in batches and have them all on the same start date, so you'd get an intake of 10-12 new people in one go. At the end of their induction they'd have a quiz to complete and be split into mini teams of 3 or 4. The quiz used to have some serious questions - which team and floor has the filing cabinet with XYZ in it and so on. But there also used to be some random questions in there as well along the lines of which team member got married at Gretna Green, who ran the London Marathon last year etc. The whole idea being that it encouraged the new starters to go and talk to the rest of the staff and introduce themselves. It worked quite well.
