Today I over heard something which concerned me a little. The childminder for a person who I know but not very well, said that the child she looks after is getting picky with food. Then proceeded with an example where child had been offered a selection of foods for lunch, only ate one type of food which wasn't enough to fill them up, then later child asked for a biscuit as was hungry, cm said 'no, you'll have to wait for your tea'. Child is nearly 2. I know this isn't the worst thing in the world and this kind of thing is quite common, but I firmly believe that children should be allowed to eat healthy food if they are hungry, and not punished because they didn't eat earlier in the day. Also i think a 2 year old needs regular snacks not 3 meals a day only. I don't know the mum that well so have no idea what her take would be. Would you say anything? And if so, how would you say it? She seems like a lovely childminder and child is very happy with her.
