I'll start. Sanitary protection and condoms.

Education for public sector professions

I keep seeing this on MN - people saying public sector shouldn't pay university fees and one poster saying they shouldn't pay tax!

There are many people earning a great deal of money in the public sector. Google the salary of any chief executive... well over £200K. Are people in the public sector all really more deserving of free education than an engineer?

LadyinCement · 15/06/2017 17:47

Chief executive of a council, I meant to put.

Andrewofgg · 15/06/2017 17:52

Hospital car parking without doubt should be free.

For the benefit of the commuters who would fill the spaces at break of day.

Sirzy · 15/06/2017 17:53

As has been said Andrew a system whereby you get a ticket validated in the department could be introduced to avoid misuse.

pollymere · 15/06/2017 17:57

Where I live we have free condoms...and more importantly, free Wi-Fi in public areas. The whole town centre has free Wi-Fi as part of some project by BT.

caroldecker · 15/06/2017 17:59

Not sure why my idea is any different to anyone else's. We all have the same needs, so give all our labour/effort to the government and they shall provide.

I must admit I was poleaxed when I saw the cost of ds's bus pass to sixth form college. Since school is compulsory to 17 I thought it was a bit off to have to pay nearly £700 for the privilege. I suppose you could say, well, get on a bike. But it's six miles and ds is unable to ride a bike (genuine reason).

Iamastonished · 15/06/2017 18:22

We live 4 miles away from DD's school, so she had a free bus pass until she was 16, and now has a South Yorkshire student travel pass so that all bus and tram fares are 80p, and all train fares are half price in South Yorkshire.

rogueantimatter · 15/06/2017 18:25

Booking for tickets. Booking charge really? It's paying for the privilege of paying for something. No doubt ticket prices would go up if booking fees were prohibited but at least the box offices and ticket sellers would be being honest about the actual cost of tickets.

Extortionate postage costs for tiny, letter -sized purchases.

Earslaps · 15/06/2017 18:25

There should be water fountains available with a way to refill bottles. The amount of plastic waste caused by buying water is ridiculous (not to mention transporting water by road when we have pipes in place to do that).

I carry water bottles for the children and I but we often run out and have to buy a bottle if it's a hot day as there is nowhere to refill them. Often taps in public bathrooms have softened water that's not good to drink.

Hell, I'd even pay to use one rather than buy another bottle of mineral water.

A hash one but funerals for children.

Sweatingcobbles · 15/06/2017 18:50

Recaspell our council is in the middle or doing something along those lines.

samarie · 15/06/2017 18:50

Totally agree with the cystic fibrosis medication

allwomanR · 15/06/2017 18:51

All treatments for those with MH issues as often as needed not rationed out
Legal representation for unfair dismissal cases/discrimination and housing issues
YY to sanpro and nappies (reusable)
Nursery places for 30 hours from when both parents go back to work rather than when the child is older so fewer women feel they have to drop out of the workforce as the costs don't add up

Spikeyball · 15/06/2017 18:55

Nappies/incontinence products for older children and adults.

goingtotown · 15/06/2017 18:58

GP's should be tougher. Prescribing paracetamol is outrageous.

Jane2406 · 15/06/2017 19:03

Prescriptions & eye tests are already free in scotland as is university tuition for Scottish residents at Scottish universities......

Maireadplastic · 15/06/2017 19:05

Changes to anything that simply involves hitting a few keys on a keyboard.

Jane2406 · 15/06/2017 19:05

But some subsidised childcare would be lovely! With two DDs, one who gets 16 free hours at school nursery & another at childcare 4 days a week that's where a vast proportion of our earnings go....

hereandnowtoday · 15/06/2017 19:05

Prescriptions, eye tests and hospital parking are all free in Scotland.

goingtotown · 15/06/2017 19:30

Prescriptions are free in Wales & Scotland.
