Yes Ill hav e to stay up all night next week (great, Im im disabled plus a carer and need my sleep.) and take a photo and catch them in the act.

They put their bins out at stupid o clock so I always miss it.

binmen don't take rubbish if bin lid isn't shut.
my bins full as it is.

NDNs are a HMO (house of Multi occupancy) and their landlord sayd he cant get any more bins from the council.
they have 2 between 6 couples.

theyre bins are overflowing as soon as the bins are emptied.

So. I catch them in the act. then what?

anti social/trespassing (bin in driveway) and disability hate crime? Can I tell police?

would police take it seriously?
council will start fining people who don't put rubbish properly. why should I be finedfor their wankiness?

AND just to top it all off, in 2 weeks time the rubbish will be collected fortnightly! double the rubbish.

Ive told the landlord but he doesn't say or do anything/Ive told the HMO's but they just sneer.

What can I do? its disgusting behaviour.

I think the best answer is to get a lock for your bin. Not ideal that you should be out of pocket but probably the best solution.
No I don't think the police would be interested. Disability hate crime, really?

PossumInAPearTree · 12/06/2017 16:14

Just put your rubbish in their bin all week. Don't use your bin at all.

strawberrygate · 12/06/2017 16:16

I'd be well pissed off, but disability hate crime? don't be daft

rightwhine · 12/06/2017 16:21

Can you afford the bin lock op?

Glittermakeseverythingbetter · 12/06/2017 16:22

What type of rubbish and is it bagged?
I would go through it wearing gloves to find an envelope or something with their name and address on. Also phone the council to explain what is happening and you need them to come back and take your rubbish.
I would also tip their rubbish back on their property every time, if you are physically able to.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 12/06/2017 16:23

If you're in a lot you'll be cooking at home, wrappings etc will need to go in the bin as opposed to buying food and eating at work and using their bins. Also if you have mobility issues buying online and all the packaging needs binning as opposed to buying from a physical store. It's not hard to imagine what causes extra rubbish diddl.

Hidingtonothing · 12/06/2017 16:25

Report to the council that your bin has been overfilled by someone else and now the binmen won't take it, they should arrange for a special collection. And then yes, get a lock, thought I was going to have to do the same but chucking the black bags our NDN had put in our bin into their driveway did the trick! I doubt this will work for you though if it's a HMO as they will always have too much rubbish for a normal family bin so a lock is your best bet.

TheFlyingFauxPas · 12/06/2017 16:36

Halo I often offer my spare bin space to my neighbours as we're only a two person house (1adult 1child) while they're double that and struggle. Anything to help and promote good neighbourliness.

user1495025590 · 12/06/2017 16:45

2 bins for 12 people is not enough- that is the root of the problem! Write to your local councillor and encourage next door to!
We are a family of 6 and qualify for a super-big bin!

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 12/06/2017 16:48

I'd take it out and the in the evening when they are in go round and say you've taken a parcel in for them but can't lift it, could they come and get it. Then when they get to your house give them the bags of rubbish and a dressing down.

diddl · 12/06/2017 16:51

"wrappings etc will need to go in the bin as opposed to buying food and eating at work and using their bins. Also if you have mobility issues buying online and all the packaging needs binning"

Yes, but not in the landfill bin.

Either way, it's terrible that Op should have to do anything at all about it-getting up earlier, buying a lock, whatever.

Branleuse · 12/06/2017 16:54

You need to do a passive aggressive note on the bin

Kezi4 · 12/06/2017 17:00

You have my sympathies OP, but how on earth is this a disability hate crime?!

Hmm
EezerGoode · 12/06/2017 17:14

I've Sen bins with a padlock on...get someone to do it for you

RubbishMantra · 12/06/2017 17:18

Our local council provide council marked bin bags if you don't have enough space in your bins. I use them, because I have an enclosed courtyard and it would mean dragging the wheelie bin through the house.

Maybe the refuse collection department of your council provide them? The onus is on the neighbours to acquire them though. The refuse collectors replace them by putting the same amount they collect through the letterbox, so only one visit to the council needed.

I wouldn't have thought it a hate crime though... Just laziness.

pinkblink · 12/06/2017 17:32

Tell the landlord if he isn't going to deal with their bin issue then he needs to buy you a gravity lock or you are going to the council to complain about the amount of people there and their lack of bins, I bet he hasn't payed the license fee!

No, the root of the problem is their rudeness in using someone else's bin rather than sorting their waste disposal issue out themselves.

QuiQuaiQuod · 12/06/2017 18:54

I mentioned disability hate crime as me and Dc are disabled.

we have a lot of ''stuff'' for disabled use and so our bin is full every week- don't know how its going to last 2 weeks at a time.

NDNs can see we are disabled and its a struggle for me to even pull the wheely bin to the front of the drive.

never mind getting up early and getting their bags out -black bin bags, can be heavy- and throwing it back to their drive.
we have recycling bins and things but they cant be arsed.

im fed up telling their LL.

bins just in front of house all week and I put it by the roadside but still in drive late night before. so they are trespassing into my property as it is.

soz, cant stay on line atm, have to see to DC and stuff. will come back on when I can.

In our area you can buy extra bins from the council so I reckon the Landlord might be trying it on.

Perhaps put a call into your Council to see if he can buy extra and send him a link to it online if he can!

TheDogAteMyGoatskinVellum · 12/06/2017 19:19

Our council has a special service for people who are disabled, I think it's a box they collect from your doorstep rather than the road. Might be worth enquiring about yours.

wisteriainbloom · 12/06/2017 19:28

I bet it's not got an HMO license.

Lostinaseaofbubbles · 12/06/2017 19:31

I had this. I called the council and reported my neighbours for flytipping.

They took away the whole bin, went through the rubbish, found evidence it was them, sent them a stiffly worded letter and a penalty notice for flytipping.

I was renting at the time and had the most obnoxious neighbours. They did pay me back by keying my car though...

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 12/06/2017 19:40

Our council will collect bins from the property if you are elderly, disabled or a carer. Have you looked into that? My DS is disabled and so far it hasn't generated excess rubbish, however I can see that happening in future years so I will be asking for doorstep collections.

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 12/06/2017 21:40

It's only a disabled hate crime if it's wholly or partly motivated by your disability. If they'd do the exact same thing to a non-disabled neighbour (highly likely unless neighbour was very large and scary) then it doesn't fall under that category - they have a very obvious motive already.

QuiQuaiQuod · 13/06/2017 16:01

Winifred Its only us they do that to. there have been a couple ,of other incidents too with them. I know its the disabilities.

They know Im on my own with my DC.
lost that's a good one, reporting for flytipping. but as you say, these fuckers always manage to get away with revenge.

Ill do the 'staying up all night sunday and taking photos' for a start. then go from there.

will keep you posted .
