I offered my resignation in writing about a month ago. I am surprised that I got no verbal or written acknowledgement of this form my boss ?is this bad manners ? Or am I being unreasonable ?

I heard from friends it was accepted and people at work all know and my previous job is now being interviewed for . Any thoughts ??

Honestly it's a phone call or an email - not a big deal!

Why do you need written confirmation of your resignation? Is it because you think they'll tell future employers that you were fired or forced to resign?

Yes, your boss should have said something along the lines of 'I'm sorry you're leaving, we're going to miss you, I hope everything goes well for you in your new role', if he didn't then clearly he is lacking in the manners department, or is really annoyed and stressed about you leaving. As you are leaving that is not your problem.

I always think it's better to resign in person but it's unprofessional that it hasn't been acknowledged.

Yes you contact them!!

And not by letter because as Moving entertainly pointed out that isn't how anyone does business and hasn't since before you joined that firm!

Formal letters are a pain in the backside for someone to send from an office, so it will keep slipping to the bottom of the to do list.

Send him an email, you'll get a response by the end of the day.

I really don't understand why you haven't already done so.

And you really need to get off your high horse about "they should have contacted me".

Yes, they probably should, but you've resigned, you are no longer important to them. Your resignation is just a problem to be fixed.

What were you expecting? A letter begging you to reconsider?

Your attitude to this is quite puzzling.
