Thank you, I shall go back to trying to pick a grown up, classy, muted and elegant colour scheme for my hall, when I just want to paint it purple or red....

Lweji · 13/06/2017 22:37

Twitter calls it Schroedinger's executive privilege ...
Grin
That was odd from him.

He was threatened with contempt at some point over it.

PlectrumElectrum · 13/06/2017 22:40

Illegitimate I think if you go back to the exchange, I think it was Sen. King, when he lost his cool cutesy mask slipped right off I think that was more the measure of him as a man/lawyer. The cutesy bumbling act only goes so far. He's probably more like a smiling bumbling Rottweiler.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 13/06/2017 22:42

Well that stonewalling was bigly enough to run along the US /Mexico border!

cozietoesie · 13/06/2017 22:45

Which reminds me. How is The Wall doing? Smile

Lweji · 13/06/2017 22:45

I didn't manage to watch it all, but it looks like I got the best bits.
Complete with Bourne Identity and the huge sacrifices he's made.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 13/06/2017 22:46

Sorry posted twice!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 13/06/2017 22:49

I thought the change in his demeanour when he was rattled was quite chilling. His eyes went coal black! Not a nice man (as my mum would say)

saffronwblue · 13/06/2017 22:50

Good morning all. Have I missed anything?

cozietoesie · 13/06/2017 22:51

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how you build a wall in the middle of a large river when the owner of the other side is .......not necessarily friendly or co-operative? Smile

lionheart · 13/06/2017 22:55

saffron. Grin Nothing to see here and if there were it would not matter one jot (unless you are an evil democrat conducting a witch-trial).

AcrossthePond55 · 13/06/2017 22:58

All sound and fury, signifying nothing. And those periods during the testimony of praising Trump & putting him in the 'victim' role from Sessions & the GOP Senators about cost me my delicious lunch!

I noticed how Sessions continually tried to shut Kamala Harris down during her questioning! I'm sure good ol' Southern boy Sessions didn't cotton to being questioned by an uppity female. Especially one of colour!

Well, onwards and upwards. Hopefully there is information percolating in the background that is going to contradict all the protestations of innocence and 'integrity'.

cozietoesie · 13/06/2017 23:44

They've put their finger on it. No-one in the Trump close administration has given any indication of taking Russian attempts to influence the democratic process seriously - or of taking action in that regard. You might well ask what business Sessions had being Attorney General if he was so seemingly uninterested in it - but that is another matter.

cozietoesie · 13/06/2017 23:56

I stand corrected - partially. Grin The existing 'fence' is on US land. In parts. Wink

Border Wall

cozietoesie · 14/06/2017 00:01

Across

Do you have any feeling for how people are viewing the prospect of the debt ceiling not being raised and the Fed Govt 'running out of money' after the recess? 45 would blame the Dems for 'obstructing' if they refused to allow anything but a 'clean lift' to go through, I assume.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/06/2017 00:37

Side by side comparison of Comey/Sessions testimony from the LA Times

www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-sessions-comey-comparison-20170613-htmlstory.html

cozie, most people are used to the Govt shutdown threats and counter-threats and just have a cynical 'que sera, sera' attitude. We don't like it, but no one's paying attention to what we want. The attitude as far as who's to blame for it depends on whether you're Dem or GOP.

Most govt agencies keep providing services albeit on a reduced scale. The biggest thing people notice is the closure of Natl Parks and museums, monuments, etc. The mail gets delivered, people get their Social Security and VA cheques. Life goes on.

TheClaws · 14/06/2017 01:16

Just asking, if Sessions is found to have lied under oath, what happens?

TheClaws · 14/06/2017 01:19

And that tweet from Donald Trump Jr. was truly nasty. We certainly know what cheese he came from and his smell is just as vile.

Trying to solicit favour. Smile

cozietoesie · 14/06/2017 01:45

I doubt he would be, Claws. His whole testimony was a mish mash of 'if I recall' and 'to the best of my recollection' sort of statements. Where he actually answered a question that is.

CaveMum · 14/06/2017 02:08

BBC take on the hearing: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40265249

Dumdedumdedum · 14/06/2017 04:50

For a little light relief, a birthday card for Trump is being circulated on Twitter. I'm not sure if this will work, it's from Joshua Malina's twitter feed or whatever you call it. twitter.com/JoshMalina/status/874795995208470528
Also adding a screen shot. I'm sure the massed anti-Trump harridans of MN could do a lot better, without swearing, with the insulting epithets Grin
Belated thanks for the new thread, TheClaws, gotta big Trump up there!

It seems like Government shutdowns are just part of the normal run of politics, these days.

But if previous ones have been sorted out relatively quickly, I suspect government shutdowns in the Trump era might turn out to be a lot more drastic.
